I bought this tripod to replace a cheaper sunpak model that I had been using with a critter cam to spy on my chickens and the critters that eat them. It was out in all weather for two years until it got knocked over one time too many on the tilt adjustment handle and the tilt tightener got cracked. It is still usable but I decided I needed something better for a real camera. It is a big relief to have something eye height. Plus, it uses the same camera mount, so I can keep the plates on the cameras, where they are much less likely to get lost. The clips on the legs are a bit stiff and oriented so you have to use your creaky old fingers instead of the indominatable thumb, which feels backwards.

I've been through this with Beat Buy also; Sunpak has "updated" their tripods to be lighter in weight, but they are are also made cheaper. I teach high school digital photo to 200+ kids each year and another teacher also has 200+ kids. The old, champagne colored Sunpak tripods have held up well. This is advertised as the old champagne version, but it's not and instead they are the "new" cheaper ones. Nothing is better made, from the plates to the cranks to the hard plastic feet to the thinner legs. I've realized that returning these won't get me anywhere so we kept them, but one is already missing the handle. Some student must have unscrewed it too far and it's gone. We also had the retaining washer on the camera screw go missing. Overall, I've seen worse tripods, but these are not updates but rather downgrades of lessor quality. Best to find an old one on eBay and actually spend less money for a better product.

This unit is a bad implementation of a good idea. The center post will actually flex when fully extended. The legs are wobbly when fully extended. The bubble level is barely visible when SLR attached - almost useless. If it wasn't for the low price I got it at I would have returned. This will be my car trunk tripod - there for when I forget to bring along a good one. This tripod is a good example of building a product in the cheapest possible way. If the manufacturer had just ribbed the leg sections it would have been much more stable. Legs and center post mode a material that is too thin. I have used this and find it best to keep the lower leg sections closed, and the center column only extended to half length.

While this tripod holds its own for still photography that doesn't involve panning, it feels a little too rickety to me to use for something where capturing movement is involved (sports, wildlife, video). It's a great entry level tripod and I'm sure it'll be sturdy enough to use in the field and studio for years to come so long as I don't expect too much from it. I bought it for still photography (stress on STILL) and I believe it's well suited for that.

I use this tripod to mount my Nikon Shoe Mounted Flash Unit Foot to the quick release plate. It's perfect because the tripod is lightweight which allows me to hold the tripod (with the flash attached) in my hand to give the flash a higher reach. I like the feature of the quick release and the extra quick release plate for this tripod. I find this feature quite helpful because it allows me to mount my foot of the flash unit onto the quick release plate so then all I have to do is attach the plate to the tripod and slide my flash onto the foot and lock it in. It's quite secure. I also use the extra quick release plate when I'm using more than one shoe mounted flash. I'll secure the quick release plate to the foot of the extra flash so it's ready in case I need to use the flash. I also like that the tripod has a small footprint. Quite helpful when I'm shooting an interior and I don't want to see my tripod in the shot.

I use these tripods to support my off camera flash attachments. They have a very small footprint that allows me to place them in small spaces. They are stable and can extend to about 5'.

This tripod does the job. Use it for photo id. It is durable enough to support 4 lbs. No major problems. Would prefer a mini tripod, but no one is making a desktop tripod that can support 4 lbs.

It's a very clever design. However every aspect of it cries "CHEAPO". The screw mount holding the central strut cracked and fell of ON THE FIRST USE. It isn't a vital element of the whole thing but still. Only buy this if you're going to operate it GENTLY.

I wanted a tripod so that I could you my Canon Video/still camera while playing with my cat. I read reviews about many different models before I chose this one. I am very happy with the choice I made. It is very study, easy to change heights and move camera side to side and up and down. Love the quick release to remove camera to take hand held shots. Great value for the price. I strongly recommend this product.

I really like the fact that I can use this either in the field or on a solid surface such as a deck. The spikes in the feet retract.
