Too much Play

I was excited when I found this base because other ones of this size were much more expensive. Now I know why. When you mount a rail with a camera on it there is a lot of play between the panning part and the leveling base - making it unusable for panoramas due to vibration from anything (wind etc.). I tried tightening the panning knob down, but it did not help. I think the answer is to purchase just the leveling base without the panning part and add your own panning clamp. The engineering of these two together just is not right.

The SunwayFoto DYH-90Ri Rotating Leveling Base for Medium Format or Larger Cameras is a simple and useful accessory that will make it far easier to be certain your camera will remain parallel to the ground, especially when shooting panoramic photos.

Laser-engraved index marks on the platform provide calibrated precision for panoramic images. This base is also valuable when changing from horizontal to vertical format with a Ballhead, as any slight shift is quickly compensated for with the leveling base. It is mounted between your tripod and your camera, has a large removable built-in bubble level and 17½ of tilt to quickly and easily keep your camera right where you want it. The 90mm-diameter platform is ideal for medium format or larger cameras.
