One small design flaw could be a deal breaker

Overall it's what I needed. It's big and the bubble level sticks out makes it very easy to read even if you have big equipment mounted on top of the plate. People would want to buy this plate is either their tripod doesn't have a bubble level or the bubble level is very small and very close to the center of the tripod makes it impossible to read if you mount your camera and other stuff on top of it. So the bigger the plate the better. Otherwise defeat the purpose of buying it. That's the good design part. Now let's talk about the bad design part. Particularly one. I want to know WHY is there a lip on the edge of the round plate? The only reason I can come up with is they try to make it secure for whatever ballheads or mounts mount on top of it? But this is totally not necessary. When you screw the ballhead or mounts on top of it, it's not going to slip or wobble. But now you added this lip you limited the size of the ballhead or mount that can mount on top of the plate. I have a William Optics base mount for my Star Adventure star tracker. It can't fit into this plate because of the lip. I had to hack it by flipping the plate upside down(thank god the other side is flat) and buy an additional bubble level from amazon and stick it on the other side of the plate in order for my William Optics mount to fit and use the plate. For that reason, I give it 3 star. It's a good thought to have a product like that but one small design flaw that limited the use of it.

Please with purchase

For those of you who do not have a level for your tripod this is great. This makes sure your tripod itself is level not the camera. I did have to take off a bushing component on my tripod so I would have enough thread to come through the plate to secure ball head. The plate does stick out quite a bit but I suppose that is to accommodate different size ball heads so you can still see the level. Because of that I can't put my tripod back in it's bag but who needs the bag if you attach your tripod to a backpack? I would recommend this product. I gave it the four star because I had bit of trouble attaching until I removed the bushing piece.
