SunwayFoto MFR-150 Macro Focusing Rail,

A well designed precision item with only one draw back. The tiny magnet that lives inside the crank handle came loose causing the crank to be easily dislodged. Other than that the SunwayFoto MFR-150 Macro Focusing Rail, performed as described.

Precision, Quality, and Simplicity

I was looking for a thin and light weight rail that would be easy to carry and still be precise. This fits the bill. The overall quality and smoothness of the drive is better than a lot of others at this price point. It feels solid. The only thing that I don't like is that the detachable handle is loose fitting and easy to lose. My solution is to affix it with double stick tape or lock-tite. Without the handle, it's hard to turn the adjustment knob.

Excellent Value

What I liked Easy to attach to a ballhead Clamp is adjustable and easy to use. Learning curve is very low Easy to use with close up rings or lens What I did not like When attached to camera, the camera is at right angle to movement of clamp It would be best to buy 2 then the tripod could be set down once and you could adjust the camera left or right back and forward. Overall it is what is advertised, is stable and is easy to use and I am very satisfied.

Excellent product for the cost.

This product saved me hundreds of dollars and works just as well. I bought the RRS focussing rail system and was genuinely happy with it. Then I realized it was nothing but 2 rails. So I but 2 and got the same outcome. Needless say I returned the RRS system.

just what I needed

This rail works well for me. I needed it primarily to use with an Olympus OM D E5. I have not tried it with my Nikon D 300 yet, which may prove to heavy for the rail unless i use only my smaller, lighter lenses. Other than that, I have only good things to say about this item. The low price is a bonus.

Good Idea with limitations

Overall the rail works well but there are operational and quality issues with the clamp. Operational issue relates to the Arca clamp. You must adjust the lever clamp set screw to the specific Arca rail your camera or lens is using. If you change to a different camera or lens with an Arca rail from another manufacturer, you have to adjust the Arca clamp set screw again. The Arca clamp locks at a specific width and any variance in your Arca rail the Arca clamp will be too tight or loose. Quality issue relates to the lead screw. The lead screw as you turn it, you feel a grinding sensation. The lead screw does not have precision threads and you can observe chatter marks along its length which is in my opinion causing the "grinding" sensation as you turn the screw. The works well as intended with the limitations noted above.Write your review here. It must be at least 10 characters long.
