Questions & Answers

JERRY W : will this work with a Leica M6ttl using wireless remotes and manual mode? Flash will be hand held.EMMETT T : I am not sure.never; used the flash with a leica. However, it works great for me. I used it for fill flash and close-ups-objects and portraits, action shots.etc.DAVID B : I use this with radio slaves and many types of cameras. It shouldn't matter what camera you are using if its in the manual mode, but of course it won't offer any TTL capabilities.RALPH S : I have three of these and really like them; I only use them in manual mode. I use them either with a wire to the hot shoe or use the optical synch mode. If your wireless remote attaches to the hot shoe and works the same as a wired synch it should do the job for you; if you have any other flash operating, the optical synch should work without any other connection.SYMON C : I never tried anything other then popping it on my Leica M6TTL. It works fine on the body. And I dont see why it wouldnt trigger attached to a wireless set up. Your main concern should be if your wireless set up will work with the M6. If its one you already own, then I guess you'll know the answer to that. If not, you should look it up before you buy it. I dont think this flash will give you any problems with what youre trying to do.RICHARD S : I have no experience wiyh this sort of application.LARRY C : I am sorry to say I have not had the opportunity to use it yet. I bought it to use with my Fujifilm Mirrorless cameras for portrait work.MICHAEL F : yes. But obviously it will not work in TTL. The light from the other flashes will trigger this one. So no TTL with multiple pre-flashes.RON M : I'm not sure what the question is since there are a ton of wireless remotes that could be used. The flash will work in a camera hot shoe as a regular flash, and I assume if attached to a remote trigger it would also work. The flash has a built in optical trigger that will fire the flash when another flash goes off, and that is how I use it most of the time (as a slave flash). I hope this helps.JOHN I : The flash has a single contact on the hot shoe for trigger; it should work with any trigger using the standard center contact (Canon, Nikon, Olympus, etc.).
RichardC R : Can this flash be used with a Sony DSC-HX300 camera?EMMETT T : I have used the Sunpak PF20XD with the Canon rebel xti and the Nikon d90; works well with both of those cameras. Best, EmmettJUNFENG Y : Hi, your camera doesn’t have hot shoe, so you cannot insert the flash on top of camera directly. But you can install it on your camera with bracket and then you need to set synchronization mode on the flash.LEE S : It all depends on the hot shoe for your camera. I'm not familiar with your camera. I have the Sony a700 DSLR which has Sony's hot shoe and the flash will not work without the hot shoe adaptor. I also have a Sony a99 DSLR which has the standard hot shoe and the flash will work on it. It is a cute little flash and puts out some good light. The reason I bought it for the a99 is because it does not have a pop up flash and I wanted something small, rather than Sony's large flash for the a99 (which I also have.) Good luck.DAVID B : That camera doesn't have a hot shoe, so you would have to trigger it with your on-board flash using the built-in sensor. However, this sensor just looks forward, and is not especially sensitive. Also your camera might emit pre-flashes and you might need a unit that lets you set the sensor to trigger after 2 or more flashes, such as the one vivitar makes.DR. MARCO P : Works flawlessly with any hot shoe with standard (central) pin. No minolta cameras, I'm afraid. And works as slave with and without red-eye corrected master flash.JOHN I : The Sunpak flash will work with the Sony DSC-HX300 in optical slave mode. The Sony does not have a hot shoe or PC Sync port to directly control the flash, but the Sunpak flash has an optical slave mode that will ignore the Sony pre-flash and fire along with the Sony flash. The Sunpak can be set to ignore one or two pre-flashes. Sony Red Eye Removal uses two or more flashes to reduce red eye. Thus, it is not likely that the Sunpak will work with the Sony when using Red Eye Removal, so this feature should be disabled. The Sunpak has both Auto and Manual modes; the Auto mode works well but should be tested with the Sony to determine what exposure compensation is needed.SYMON C : Judging by the looks of the Sony DSC-HX300, no. The camera doesn't have a hotshoe, nor does it look like there a PC Sync anywhere on it. Seems to me that the built in flash would give you similar results.
Shopper : this product can suitable for nikon D3100 and for profetional use?YUKIHIRO Y : Hello, Actually, I purchased the same "Sunpak PF20XD Variable Power Flash for All Digital Cameras, Guide Number ISO 100 - Feet 65" from adorama in January and February but one unit has not arrived. The one I purchased in January has been missing. I bought two units but only one has arrived. I was supposed to received via MyUS in Japan but even if I asked DHL about it, they said they have no responsibility. When I asked MyUS, they told me to fill out details the form and I am in trouble. It is like money is thrown away. Can adorama give assurance? I continue to use its service so your consideration is highly appreciated.RON M : This is a good off camera wireless flash to add a little light to special areas in your scene. It will also work as a dumb flash on the camera. I use it as a hair light is outdoor portraits or as a fill light. Very handy light in a small package. You can set the f-stop on the flash and then match that setting on your camera. It also has a manual intensity control for use as a fill.DAVID B : I've been impressed with the power and versatility of these little flashes. I use them almost exclusively on manual and usually with a radio slave. I like that you can swtich between the onboard slave and the hotshoe. You don't find many small flashes like this with variable power output. You get a lot of flash out of two AAA batteries on these. As fo use with your Nikon, it has a standard hot shoe so you can certainly use it on any camera with one, but it's not going to work in TTL mode or any other advanced flash features your camera might have that require a dedicated unit.CHAO YUAN T : Depends on what you mean by professional use. I'm using it exclusively for macro photography, but I imagine that it could be used to light up a softbox for product photography. It can be used on a Nikon but it's a manual flash, you have to control the flash output manually and match your shutter speed, ISO and aperture accordingly. Hope this helps DR. MARCO P : hello this flash unit can be used with any hot shoe camera, but it does not comply with specific manufacturer flash modes. it only measures light by itself or can be used in full manual mode. no it is not a professional tool. hope this helps.

Best Little Flash

This little workhorse is cheap and provides all the light one might need for most small camera photography. Off shoe it's even better. I bought it because it's completely manual or auto. Too bright? Just dial it down until the light is just a kiss. Flip up the defuser for even less light. Buy two because they're inexpensive and the hotshoe invariably breaks off on the 4th bump. Also use a bit of tape to keep it from switching on in your bag.

Doesnt work with Fujifilm XPro1 :(

I bought this as a flash to use on my FujiFilm XPro1, unfortunately, it doesnt work connected directly to the cameras hotshoe. All my other flashes do, but this one doesnt for some reason. It will however connect to the pc sync and work. but thats just annoying. Other then that this flash is great on other cameras and is very versatile.

Great for digital cameras big and small

I have no regrets having bought this flash, its great for parties when close up shots are needed, the auto flash feature is excellent.I suggest you purchase one before Sunpak , no longer offers them.

versatile

This unit is very small and lightweight, using only 2 AAA batteries. This, combined with the built-in optical slave makes it great for off-camera flash techniques. The flash can be easily taped or rubber-banded anyplace you need more light (which you can't always do with a bulky full-sized flash). The pre-flash cancellation mode for the slave works great with my Canon point-n-shoot, but not so well with my Canon XSi. However it is still a favorite gadget in my camera bag. Very handy!

Well suited for travel

This is a very good little flash that I use while travelling. Used with Mamiya 6MF and Bessa III cameras. At few occasions, it refused to work. I removed the batteries wait a little and then it works again…. But otherwise, it works fine.

Fantastic little flash

A great flash for travel. I use it on my LX3 in the hotshoe. It has 3 auto modes and as far as I can tell, is the only compact flash unit to offer fractional flash power in manual mode. It is a bit odd that there is no 1/2 power setting. It goes from FULL to 1/4 to 1/8 and so on. Recycle time can be about 8 seconds at full power. There are 3 modes for the flash: hotshoe, optical slave, and optical slave with pre-flash cancellation. The pre-flash cancelling mode works great with my Pentax and Panasonic cameras. Hotshoe works also. The big downside is that the selector switch for these 3 modes is so small you need a pen tip to switch between them. It is no replacement for a bigger flash, as it has no bounce, and GN of 20m. But it's great as a travel flash or a flash slave. It's small and can be dialed down, so could probably be used as a background or hair light in a pinch.

• Compact auto flash for any camera and for easy use. The auto flash is an electronic flash for which a sensor automatically adjusts the amount of light.

The auto flash can be used whether attached to a camera or not because it adopts a method of flashing in wireless synchronization with the emission of light by another electronic flash.

You can readily enjoy flash photography by attaching the auto flash to various cameras, from the latest digital cameras to film cameras and range-finder cameras.

When pulling up the built-in panel, the flash is applicable to wide-angle lens. Compatible with digital cameras triggered by wireless auto flash.

The connecting cord is not necessary by wireless synchronization. The Slave Sensor senses and synchronizes with light reflected from the subject, but this flash will not synchronize in places where reflected light is weak.

Compatible with Pre-flash cancellation of digital camera with some types of digital cameras, the exposure is adjusted with first pre-flash and the picture is taken with the second flash.

The Pre-flash cancellation doesn't fire with the first pre-flash, but synchronize with second flash. Easy to install on camera with the attached bracket.
