Almost great

The shape of the emitter is perfect for modifiers...hopefully the Bowens version fixes the major issues - modifier availability and fan noise. The fan is WAAAAAY too loud for any kind of motion/sound use. I cut mine apart and put a bowens mount and quieter fan and it's great...worth it? No.

Great light output... but the noise

Picked one of these lights up for some indoor video work. The output and color are great and it's super easy to set up. There are only two things that concern me about this light. 1. the octabox is attached via a tiny screw hole in the center of the LED housing. I think at some point down the road this could lead to an accidental cross threading and ruin the diffusion. 2. This is probably the biggest con of the light - the fan is noisy and it's picked up by all our audio gear (on camera reference as well as dedicated audio) Not really sure why a light marketed for Cinema has such a high noise level making it practically impossible to use for professional results.

Debated between 4 and 5 stars

I've been using this light for 6 months along with 3 dracasts for an indoor studio where I shoot videos for an internet retailer. Everything about it screams high quality and it puts out a ton of light. The LCD screen and wheel to adjust output by 1%, clearly displayed on the screen, makes me believe the future is now. My only complaints are that in high heat, the fan noise can be pretty loud, and after extended periods (30 minutes or more) in extreme heat (above 100 degrees, as the "studio" isn't air conditioned), the light will reduce output to keep from frying itself. That is, I suppose, better than the light frying itself, after which time it would no longer be able to put out any light. I wish I could give 4.5 stars, because this is a truly awesome light, and if you're using it in a place with air conditioning, you'll never notice these problems. Just to give you an idea of how often it shuts down in heat, it tends to turn off just before the A6500s we use shut themselves down for heat as well. So if you're using an A6500 where you want to use this light and your A6500 doesn't shut down, you're probably good to go.
