Preface: I have zero experience with videography & lighting. When recently I had to begin teaching music lessons from home via Zoom, I realized students needed to see my movements more distinctly. Affordable webcams, forget it. And affordable LED panels seemed to be sold out everywhere as well. I came across a recommendation to consider "old school" lighting. The tungsten bulbs I purchased to go with these reflectors produced considerable heat and burned out in a very short time, so I replaced them with two Rayna 30 watt LED bulbs & two small softboxes (held on with velcro). Students say they can see demonstrations better. Excessive heat is no longer an issue with the LED bulbs, and yes, they were quite a bit more $$, but they're reported to last for 5-10 years. (I hope that's the case.) The brackets that hold the reflectors are a bit of a challenge, but once set, they've held. The bracket could be improved, but I have significantly improved lighting for a relatively small investment.

I didn't even know these lights existed until recently. For the money they are great. Nice warm 3200K light easily neutraled out as the bulbs are consistent. Not as bright as more expensive lights but very useful.

Smith-Victor Adapta-Lights have been a mainstay for photographers for decades. Now they're gaining a new popularity, as the next generation of photographers realizes you don't need expensive, high-tech lighting to create great lighting effects. The A10UL Adapta-Lights feature 660-watt medium screw-base phenolic sockets, 10ft. 2-wire cords, 5/8-inch mounts and new UM-6 umbrella mounts. The reflectors now have an umbrella punch-out, and are hand-spun and chemically etched to maximize light output. The exteriors have a photographic black, baked-on enamel finish. The insulated handles allow for heat-free adjustment while in use. Lamps sold separately.
