great support pole
Only one negative point - it uses set screws to secure the four sections together and that's a slight bother. I've used systems that have a spring loaded push button securing system that's nicer and you'll never lose a screw or wrench with that.
There are three major strong points for this cross pole.
1) it's modular and has four sections that connect via internal couplers that uses screws to "lock" in. It's very secure, though you're not going to be doing chin ups on it. A fabric or seamless background will be simple.
2) Each pole section is 38" long and there are four of them plus three internal connectors. You can use two sections with one connector, three sections with two connectors, etc. so it's easily customizable.
3) Because it's modular, you could buy a second cross pole to add more sections to create a much longer cross pole. I think it's plenty strong enough to add three more sections to it (but you'd need to add a third support light stand to support it in the middle just by clamping the stand to the cross pole). It would be a piece of cake to create a 15 to 20' cross pole.
It comes with light stand adapters, which just screw on to the standard threaded tip that most stands already have.
The set screws used to connect the sections together are common sized and you could find spares at any decent hardware store, it's not a bad idea to keep a couple on hand.
