Questions & Answers

CHRISTOPHER M : Does this unit have a tripod mounting screw? or any mounting options?KURT M : Yes, it has a standard 1/4-20.CHRISTOPHER M : Wow, thanks guys, I wasn't expecting any responses this quickly. Thank you all very much. Now I'm off to buy a couple.RITCH J : 1/4-20 female mount. The mount is set at a 45 degree angle to the base of the unit opposite the decal and the prongs of the 'bulb,' face down. The angle and surface area is enough so the unit can sit propped at an angle or as shown in the photos. Unit is 1/2 the height of soda can and almost as round. The only place to put hook/loop fastener on it would be the circumference or the battery door - not a fan of the probably delicate/unreplaceable battery door, although it works.JAMES H : Yes it has a tripod mounting screw. Great for a kicker light. I use it behind counters and furniture in residential photography.LEVENT C : Yes, on the bottom rim is a 45 degree cut out with a standard tripod thread. I personally use a small Joby GorillaPod with this unit.GUY E : Yes it does. Metal insert takes a 1/4 inch stud in two places.DARREN P : It does have a metal tripod mount on the edge of the unit at 45 degrees, works great.
Jaime M : Can I use the cowboy studio transmitter to remote flash this unit?RICHARD A : Unfortunately, no. The PG6S has an optical slave built in, but it has no external connections, so there would be no way of connecting your Cowboy receiver to it. In my experience the PG6S would not be considered a viable main light; it is very usable as a kicker, rim light or hair light (especially since it is so light that it can be mounted on a boom stand with no counterweight), and in these situations there is always at least one other strobe to trigger the optical slave.LEVENT C : If you are only using this PG6S Strobe, the answer is no. If you have another strobe going off that this unit can see, than the light emitted from other strobe, could trigger the PG6S.JAMES H : The unit is a optical slave and does not have a way to use a transmitter. I use the light as a kicker mostly for resdential photos in areas like between a couch and a table or to light us the area between a kitchen island and the other counter. It works great for that and I ususally carry a few of them.ANTHONY H : No. This unit is a slave flash and will only fire when see's another flash.
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?RICHARD A : I use this all the time as a hair light in portraiture. Being very light and battery powered, I can quickly mount it on a boom stand without any cables or concern for toppling over, and no counterweight or sandbag is needed. The power is just about right for this use.

Use the wireless PG6S for an accent light to illuminate small areas. It has a GN of 20. It measures 2-1/2" high by 2-9/16" in diameter.

Flash can be used direct or behind objects to provide a little extra light. Can sit vertically or at a 45 degree angle, and can also be used with the PG820MT mini tripod.

Flash output is fixed at full power. Unit has a test button, ready light and on/off switch. Requires 2 AA batteries (not included) and recycles in 4 to 6 seconds.
