This is a low-budget alternative to the expensive low-profile right angle XLR connectors from Cable Techniques and others (used often in location sound bags). I've used several and had good performance and durability. The GOOD: - low-profile (about the same as competitors) - You can spin the end cap around to make the cable exit wherever you want (but be careful because there is no strain relief - same as competitors.) - The end caps & collars from these connectors will fit other Switchcraft AAA series XLR bodies, like 5-pin for which no official low-profile version exists. The BAD: - Hard to terminate because you need to thread your cable through the end-cap and bend things quite a bit while turning the collar. (The cable hole will pass a 5mm cable max.) - Small choice of colors manufactured, even smaller range of colors tend to be stocked - Slightly less RF shielding than competitors because terminals are surrounded by plastic ring, not metal body. (All low-profile connectors sacrifice some shielding since their caps are plastic.) - Silver-plated contacts instead of gold (I don't consider this a problem but some may.)
