I bought this to use on a light stand in place of a 200 watt A.C. light and it's just as bright but when I tried using the optional 9 Channel Remote Control (MFR: TL-BTR) with it, the battery in the light died in no time and it was turned off most of that time! Apparently the remote keeps the circuitry active and actually drains the light's battery even while it's not lit! This was very frustrating when I used it recently on a very important corporate presentation and the presenter kept having the light flash off and on while they were tying to talk. Not good for business!

This is the second one I bought. I always like to have a back-up. Works great at wedding receptions. I like the fact that you can set the color balance. Some weddings might be in a tent in the summertime - by setting the color balance I have a nice balance to my video in the foreground as well as the background. It's also a very sturdy light. I once dropped it about 6 ft. on to a tile floor. It continues to work perfectly. The battery makes the light a little top-heavy when mounted to your camera. Just be sure that it is mounted securely. Very satisfied.

Owning this light won't make you a better filmmaker. Or will it? It's made me a better one, because now it's so easy to do the right thing – add that rim light, dial in that fill, tweak that color temp – that I'm actually doing it, instead of thinking about it. Having a Bolt in your bag arms you with a powerful light that delivers on the promise that LED lighting has been whispering for years: cool light when you need it, where you need it, no cords attached.

The Switronix TorchLED Bolt On-Camera LED Light is a 200W-equivalent light for attaching to the top of your camera - or (likely via an adapter) to a light stand for use as a "sun gun" on a set or on location. The 16-LED light is powerful enough to use as a fill light outdoors. The TorchLED features a brightness and throw (40-50') that put it in the range of halogen lights.
If it has a free Powertap output, you can use your existing 14.4V DC brick-style battery for powering this light - a Powertap cable is included. Alternatively, the TorchLED Bolt accepts a Sony L-Series-style battery to supply the needed power. Though it puts out the equivalent of 200W incandescent light, it draws just 22W at maximum light output. At 4100K, which is a blend of full 3000K and 6000K light, the illumination is 3800 lux at 3.3' (1 m).
