Shopper : Does this lens have an image stabilizer in it?Kenneth P : Samyang and Rokinon are made by the same manufacturer and none of their lenses support image stabilization; this is to keep the price lower than other lens manufacturers who have image stabilization. And at such a low focal-length (24mm), you will not need image stabilization.JAMEEL D : No, this is a completely manual lens. Manual focus, manual aperture, and no stabilizer. The good news is that it gathers so much light and is wide enough that in most situations you wouldn't need stabilization.

Good except for focusing

I bought this lens to use on night shots, so the f/1.4 is good and manual focus is OK, since usually I will be focusing at infinity. On my Nikon, though, using the manual focus system says that something at infinity is in focus when it is actually way out of focus. Also, there is so much play in the focus ring that the actual focus on infinity may be on either side of the infinity mark. I had two lenses from another maker that I used to use for these purposes, but I sold them because they had such bad coma on bright stars. Fortunately, this lens pretty much eliminates the coma, but focusing on infinity at f/1.4 is a problem.

It’s super lenes for the price range

The Samyang 24mm f/1.4 ED AS UMC Wide-Angle Lens for Canon gives you a wide 84deg. view when used with a full-frame 35mm camera, 57.6deg. when used with an APS-C camera or 47.6deg. with Four-Thirds cameras. Four low-dispersion (ED) glass elements and two aspheric elements produce sharply defined images with a minimum of aberrations.

The lens focuses as close as 9.84" from the lens, giving you outstanding wide-angle close-up views. A multi-layered and anti-reflection UMC coating provides superb light transmission and reduced flaring. This lens will operate in Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority, Program and Manual exposure modes. It is a manual focus lens.
