Fun lens, sharp, great pics. The manual focus on my X-Pro 3 gives it more of a playful feel.

People with a Sony Camera don’t need to be afraid of manual lenses. This lense gives me beautiful results even wide open. Just make sure you have focus peaking and focus zoom set on your camera to get sharp results. This was just a test photo with the lens.

I never used Samyang before. This is my first tryout for the third party brand beside my favorite Sigma brand. I was skeptical at first but I did give it a try due the price. I was pleasantly surprised by the built quality. Once I get used to the manual focus lens, I can get amazing pictures quality. The color rendering and sharpness is pretty much comparable with Nikon pro lens. I cannot tell the difference with my Naked eyes. Unlike some other reviews, people might say the picture is not sharp and soft. I have similar situations at first, but it was just how we manually focused the lens. I figured that once I got a decent focus picture on the viewfinder, then I can verify the sharpness at 100% zooming in and I can adjust the sharpness if needed. That way I can get a perfect focused picture. Overall this a fantastic lens and it is a fraction of the Pro brand names. Very happy with this purchase and highly recommend this lens to anyone who is short on budget.

New to Fuji so I decided to buy this lens. It’s a great lens, I had accidentally dropped it on my carpet and had a heart attack lmao. Beast of a body, nice, simple, recommend to manual focus users only.

So far, seems to be a very well built lens. It's heavy and sturdy. Captures crisp photos. Great bokeh wide open. If you plan on manually adjusting the aperture while using the lens, it is a little tricky. The adjustments are really close to the camera and, personally, my fingers are too big to get in there. I just leave it on A and adjust in camera.

Great lens, but I ultimately returned it because it was just too heavy for my Sony A6000 camera. I was afraid I would drop it.

I’m using this lens with a Sony a7ii for street photography, events, and portraits and am extremely pleased with it. It didn’t take long to get used to manual focus, and whatever disadvantages there may be are far outweighed by the image quality and affordability of the lens. It’s a pleasure to use. Because it doesn’t communicate with the camera’s software, it doesn’t record the f-stop, but that’s not a real problem. I can tell you that shooting hand-held at dusk and night @ f/2.8 produced very good results (and even better on a tripod, of course).

It’s nice, creamy bokeh. Tried on X-T30, not super sharp on lower aperture as expected. Overall great for portraits

The lens is very sharp from f/2.0 and good wide open. For the price the lens is excellent value. If I had to point to a con, I'd say that the focus ring could be a bit stiffer. It's very smooth but could use a bit more weight.

Up to this point I have been exclusively a Nikon photographer. I just recently purchased a Sony a 7ii and wanted to try it out for portraits and headshots. Not sure if I was going to re-invest in a whole new system I decided to try an inexpensive lens that received a lot of positive reviews on YouTube. I grew up with manual lenses and felt for a non-moving subject I could possibly get sharper images with Sony’s focus assist. The Samyang manual 85mm is an amazingly sharp lens with the killer ability to shoot at f1.4! I had never used a Samyang lens prior to this, but I will definitely not overlook them again! I highly recommend this lens.

If you don't mind taking the time to focus this lens you will get excellent results. With the Nikon chip focus is confirmed. I'm very please with what I got for the price. Great value!

Samyang 85mm is the best Len I ever own . I own canon Ef 70-200mm f/2.8 the most expensive Len, but didn't give me the way I want my photo looks. just the fraction of a cost of samyang push me up to higher level skill, it's produce much of brighter color, this Len also produce soft bokeh effect background Just the way artistic looks. I would recommend it.

takes some getting used to, especially focusing at greater distances, otherwise, great build quality and a great learning experience for beginners.

I love this lens. I'm no professional, but I enjoy learning to manually focus with this lens. It gives great bokeh and amazing sharpness once you find the correct focus. The only con I have is the lens cap that comes with it does not have very deep finger slots so sometimes it's easy to drop it onto the lens or accidentally shoot it toward the glass, if that makes sense, so make sure to take the cap off upside down or sideways.

Great lens if you don't mind manual focus. There is a little bit of CA wide open but for the money it just cannot be beat.

Best deal in superior 85mm fast portrait lenses. You only need to know how to manual focus, which is a great skill to have. It is a portrait, take time to compose, focus and snap.

Functionally this lens compares favorably with any fast prime lens at this focal length that you can buy. Sharpness and image quality is fantastic and the bokeh is great. Of course you'll have to focus it yourself, but for a skilled photographer this shouldn't be a problem at all, and since the lens is designed and built for manual focus, with a long smooth throw of the focus ring, most people will have an easier time focusing this lens manually than using most autofocus lenses in manual mode. The "focus confirmation chip" works reasonably well, though for me using a split image focusing screen is a preference. It's Interesting to note that while my best full frame camera body - D800 "confirms" more readily and reliably than the APSC, D7100, D5200 & D3300 that I have tried, focus confirmation with my older APSC D90 seems to work as well or better than all the bodies I have tried. I purchased this lens for a specific purpose for which it has been great, low light portraiture, still life, and candid interior work, but find that it also works exceptionally well for day to night street photography, particularly on an APSC body. It is a little more of a challenge to focus but it lets me use a smaller body and shoot from a little further away. While I will admit that I am somewhat "old school" in my approach to photography, in my view this lens has been a delight to use and performs beautifully. I could not be more satisfied.

The lens is a surprise and very well worth the money if you don't mind the manual focus. If you're a professional then it should not be a problem. Compared to other lenses this is almost - very close - as good as a major manufacturer lens for the fraction of the price. Sharpness and distortion (lack of) is on par with the best lenses. Get your hands on one, I think the price is going to go up very soon.

The Samyang 85mm f/1.4 Lens for Sony E Mount is a manual focus, manual aperture, APS-C format telephoto prime lens with a focal length equivalent to 127.5mm in the 35mm format. It is ideal for portraiture and other telephoto applications. Its bright f/1.4 maximum aperture is very effective in low light situations and provides shallow depth of field focus.
An aspherical lens element aids in the reduction of aberrations and UMC multi-layer coating minimizes flare and ghosting and contributes to overall sharp imaging. The lens offers a minimum focus distance of 3.3', its filter thread diameter is 72mm and included with the lens is a bayonet-type lens hood that deflects unwanted light and protects the lens from damage.
