Fantastic product. If you don't have the time or expertise to maintain your own NAS/Docker/Kubernetes etc, the lightweight OS on this guy can be a lifesaver. While it's not a heavy weight in the server fights, it does what is needed and does it well, has a world of documentation on everything you can do, and is easy to maintain so you can focus on other things.

Decent box, good hardware, good OS, it doesn't put the drives to sleep as much as I would hope and the drives can be noisy, so you may not want to put it in any quiet areas. You can FTP directly from the box, but something with the OS limits my FTP speeds regardless of which app I use to ftp with, no obvious explanation for why that's happening. It's good though, gets the job done, and most importantly: I trust it.

More NAS than I needed as a first time user, but the Synology software made getting things up and running relatively easy.

It's a great unit. It's a little more complex to setup and get running for a non-IT professional but I eventually managed to figure it out. I'm still working on deciphering the instructions for using the apps that came with the system.

Wonderful product, and I got it cheaper here than Amazon listed. It shipped and arrived quicker than I expected, too. I'm using my NAS to set up a Plex server, and it works wonderfully for that purpose.

It's nice to have an off-site backup option that I can also use to deliver files to clients. I have my Synology set up away from my standard studio to give us an additional layer of backup security. The online interface works fairly well, though it can be a little clunky at times. The server setup was initially very easy and worked well when I was on the same local network, but I had to do some work with port forwarding on the router to be able to reliably access the server remotely (which is the whole reason I bought this). Overall, I'm pleased with it, it's just kind of a pain to set up.

I'm running a small landscaping business with about 25 employees. We also do all of the marketing and content creation in house. So, when it comes to storing employee files with PII, as well as storing and editing large amounts of media, it makes collaboration seamless among our office and marketing personnel.

This unit serves as primarily as a media backup. Additionally, use the unit as a network backup for all of our computers, and network media center for our movies and videos. We were also able to do some unexpected functions such as running a Minecraft server for the kids so they can play together on different devices.

I am a fan of Synology products. I bought this DS920+ for use in a small business. Our primary use is for company file sharing. We were able to tailor file sharing to our needs in ways that we could not with either Dropbox of MS OneDrive. However, these devices can do so much more than file sharing. I have an older Synology NAS that I having been running at home for several years now and its performance has been flawless. I use it for file sharing and video streaming. The UI is very intuitive and it takes very little time to get one of these up and running (though you could then spend days going through all of the various apps and settings if you wanted to.

My first experience with a Synology NAS has been very satisfying. In retrospect, I should have purchased one long ago! The operating system offers so many options, I'll probably be tweaking it for years to come as I learn more about this device's capabilities. And that's a good thing! For now, I'm very pleased with the ability to use Pi-Hole through Docker. I suspect I will find Synology's unique hybrid RAID feature to be extremely helpful when I need to add storage capacity later. For now, my next task will be to set up my NAS for home video surveillance storage. I'm sure this Synology unit will serve me very well for a long time to come! Highly recommended!

I love this thing. The ability to run docker containers is a hoot, and 4-bays leaves a lot of room for creativity with your home network.

The Synology DS920+ is awesome. Photo Library Management, Media Management, file management, external file requests ... you name it and you can probably do it with a Synology NAS. It really is a great sharing platform and it serves as your own personal cloud. If you don't like being in big tech's pocket then invest in yourself and buy yourself a NAS!

Paired this with four Seagate 8tb Iron wolf Pro drives in a raid 10 array. Very easy setup, excellent array of free utilities.

Easy to use, easy setup, easy to add apps. I'm able to stream 4k content via Plex with no added hardware. Definitely a major win. There are more powerful NAS devices, but Synology focused on also delivering a great UI experience, and as someone who is tech savvy, but not sys-admin savvy, I appreciate that.
