Purpose-built for DIT applications, SymplyPRO DIT Thunderbolt LTO is a full-featured backup, archive and transfer system designed specifically for on-set and DIT data protection, with features that enhance every production and post-production pipeline.

SymplyPRO DIT Thunderbolt is based on our advanced SymplyPRO desktop line-rugged metal-alloy enclosure, premium power supply and efficient cooling-then adds multi-access ingest: a front dock for any 2.5-inch SSD or Atomos Master Caddy to enable fast, all-in-one DIT operations (ingest - verify - to-tape). All dual-drive desktops use our SymplyCABLELESS architecture for rapid serviceability and easy upgrades.

Each model comes equipped with two Thunderbolt 3 ports that support daisy-chaining, with one port delivering 60W of power for device charging. For additional flexibility, every unit also includes SAS Host and SAS Expansion ports, allowing you to connect other SAS devices to your Thunderbolt computer, or use the drive with a non-Thunderbolt workstation.

Every SymplyPRO DIT Thunderbolt configuration supports Linear Tape File System (LTFS), enabling familiar drag-and-drop file operations and simple interchange without heavy backup software. It's also compatible with leading backup and archive applications that support LTO- media-focused tools such as Archiware P5, Hedge Canister, YoYotta, and XenData; plus broader IT platforms including Veeam Backup & Replication, Veritas NetBackup, Commvault, IBM Spectrum Protect, Arcserve, Retrospect, and the open-source Bacula, and Bareos.

On Windows and Linux, SymplyPRO DIT Thunderbolt integrates with standard platform tools and LTO software stacks (e.g., IBM tape drivers, IBM Spectrum Archive LTFS, and ITDT diagnostics). On macOS, SymplyATOM provides streamlined tape operations-format, mount/eject LTFS, one-click diagnostics and log capture, and in-app firmware updates for SymplyPRO drives. This ensures straightforward deployment in mixed environment.

All Symply dual-drive desktop systems feature SymplyCABLELESS technology, a unique design that makes LTO drives quick and easy to remove, service, or upgrade. Start with a single LTO drive and add a second in seconds-without ever powering down the system. Upgrading to the next LTO generation is just as simple.

In the unlikely event of a drive issue, the affected drive can be removed and replaced without shutting down the entire unit, and only the failed drive needs to be returned for service. Simple, flexible, and designed for maximum uptime-exactly what you'd expect from Symply.
