Questions & Answers

Shopper : What does "5 MOA" mean?ARTHUR M : It means the reticle, (dot). will cover a 5" circle at 100yds. 1MOA = 1/2" @ 50yds, 1" @ 100yds, 5" @ 500yds and 10" @ 1,000yds. If your reticle completely covers your target at any given range then the sighting system becomes inaccurate. This can be marginalized by turning down the intensity of the dot. Having the dot too bright will create "splash" and unnecessarily obscure your target.KEVIN C : The short answer is that the red dot will cover a 5" circle at 100 yards.ERNEST H : The "5 MOA" in red dot open scopes means at 100 yards you'll have accuracy in a 5 inch range. MOA means Minute of Angle or Minute of Arc. I have this Tasco Red-Dot mounted on two rifles; 22 caliber and .177 pellet rifle. It made both rifles quite accurate. The quick acquisition of the red dot centered on a target is a huge plus. Another plus is, my two rifles mentioned above are in a very humid wet climate and the scope is fogproof, waterproof and shock proof. I'd say buy it. I also purchased a Bushnell Trophy TRS-25 Red Dot. This optic is a bit more expensive but it is very compact and lighter weight wise than the Tasco. Good luck. E...JAMES C : Red dot sight reticles are measured in minutes of angle, or "MOA". MOA is a convenient measure for shooters using English units, since 1 MOA subtends approximately 1.0472 inches at a distance of 100 yards (91.44 m). This is generally rounded to 1 inch at 100 yards, which makes MOA a handy unit to use in ballistics. One of the most common reticles used in red dot sights is a small dot, covering 5 MOA (1.5 mrad). The 5 MOA (1.5 mrad) dot is small enough not to obscure most targets, and large enough to quickly acquire a proper "sight picture". For many types of action shooting, a larger dot is preferred; 7 (2.0 mrad), 10 (2.9 mrad), 15 (4.4 mrad) or even 20 MOA (5.8 mrad) dots or rings are used; often these will be combined with horizontal and/or vertical lines to provide a level reference.RON C : 5=1.5 milliard....MOA=minutes of Angle..or bullet drop
Mike C : Will it mount to a Weaver style base? Is there any magnification?JOHN V : Hi Mike, This scope will not mount on to a Weaver style base. It's made to mount on a Dovetail base, which is narrower than the Weaver. Although you can buy an adaptor that would allow you to mount it on the Weaver. There is no magnification on this scope. You would need to see 2 X 30mm or 3 X 30mm, etc. on the name description. The first digit tells you how much magnification you will be able to see.DONNIE R : It has 0 magnification and will not fit weaver base. it fits fine on most 22 cal. rifles that have groves cut on top of reciever. HOPE THIS HELPS. D.R.JAMES C : Yes to Weaver, no to magnification.FRITZ N : Hi...I have this scope. Tasco makes the same scope with a weaver mount... you can find it here or get info from the Tasco web site.
GAIL R : Is this the one that fits the 22 Henry?JAMES C : I don't think the Henry 22 comes with a stock mounting rail. However, you can go to any sporting good store and get the rail that can replace the rear sites which this scope will screw on to. Hope that helps. I use it on a 22 Ruger Pistol (also with an additional rail mount.) Hope that helps.RYAN W : Yes. I have one mounted on mt sons Henry .22

M.O.A.

Answer to a question from a purchaser: M.O.A. means Minute of Angle. For 5 M.O.A., this means that the dot will cover 5 inches at 100 yards. A competitive shooter and a lot of hunters want rifles to be accuate to one M.O.A. or less. Take this into consideration when you decide how to use the scope.

Dot On

I mounted this Tasco red-dot scope to a RWS .177 pellet rifle. Mounted quickly & securely. On a bright day, a minimum power setting of 9 or 10 will probably be needed and 7 on cloudy/overcast days; any less you probably won't be able to see unless its very dark. Adjustments to zero-in were easy. At 50 ft. shot less than 2-inch group (about the size of the 5-moa dot). Keeping your head in the same position is required otherwise the "dot" moves. I keep my cheek on the stock, so not a problem
