Seeing the price of $69, I bought these with a chuckle and out of curiosity. I'm a 25+ years active recordist/mix/mastering engineer and have designed and built a number of boutique mics and speaker systems of my own - I know my way around good audio quality and what it takes to produce it. This product is a rarity for many reasons - one being that it is built for the people, likely at a loss to the company. The sound quality is rich, with great low self noise and excellent frequency response inspired by a '47 style capsule, some smooth transient control and character added by the hefty transformer balanced circuit, nice plosive rejection and acoustic tonality from the capsule deck, cradle, and German style headbasket. Two of these mics will cost you the same as a single Behringer B2-Pro - and each of them will mop the floor with that mic. Having 3 polar patterns with nice voicings for each, a low cut filter switch and pad switch - coming in at 69 bucks? Sounding this good? Only a few ways that could happen, and all of them require giving of the company something of immense value to the customer. I did not probe around inside, but just opened them up to see how they went about this. To my amusement, (though already expected from the great sound quality) the PCB's are of high quality. While most parts in the surrounding design are surface mount, those in the audio path are discrete and high quality components, using industry standard methods to achieve the best sound possible. TLDR: Get these. Pro/amateur, anywhere between - these are excellent mics at any price. At this price point, they're basically free. Free boutique mics, everyone. Seriously. Grab a pair and enjoy.

The TAC1100 is a good bang for your buck condenser microphone. The different polar patterns, -10dB pad and a Low Cut Filter gives you the tools to capture any source. This budget friendly microphone was such a surprise, I purchased an additional one for ORTF and XY stereo recordings. YMMV.

This mic sounds very good. I bought one a while back, now I bought a second one to have a pair for stereo and M/S. It has a smooth top end and warm bass.

Just finished an extensive shootout with the TAC700 and TAC1100 mics, and I am impressed!! I have a descent home studio setup, and these were up against a C414B-ULS, TLM107, TLM102, U47fet Clone, SM57, MXL144 and MXL4000 (all in cardioid). The transformer saturation is very pleasant and musical. The top end is not overly hyped but sounds open, and, in fact, everything sounded very large and clear. This mic is not on the dark or veiled side, but not bright either. I actually found it to be in the range of the TLM102 and the U47Fet clone. The response brings some of the lower mids forward, and handles most sources pleasantly without EQ. I bought a pair of these and the TAC700s with the intent to return one or the other, but now all are going to stay with my recording setup. NOT cheap sounding. Incredible bang-for-buck at the price. -Cheers

There are new additions to the Turnstile Audio family hitting the streets as of today. The Turnstile Audio Concourse Series of microphones is sure to make a profou...
"This mic had tight bass, clean mid-response, and a clear, open high range without being over-hyped or brittle like so many cheap mics. Plus, it came with a nice case and decent mounting hardware, all for a fraction of the price I’d expect to pay. I would be happy to use this mic in a voice-over setting for animation, video games, or feature films. "
The Turnstile Audio Concourse Series TAC1100 Condenser Microphone offers you a remarkably warm and clear sound, with multiple options to give you flexibility for any recording scenario. Perfect for broadcast, vocal recording, instrument recording, and any other audio recording you can conceive, this top-of-the-range microphone is up for the task. This is the ideal microphone for making your podcast, social media content, video content, live streaming, and audio recording all come to life in vivid, stunningly detailed sound. Crafted with a design that hearkens back to vintage microphone designs, the TAC1100 pleasingly saturates the sound in all the right ways. Your ears and your audience will notice the difference right away. The included shock mount isolates the microphone from potential mic stand noise while the included windscreen reduces plosive “Ps” and “Bs” when recording vocal sources. Plus, the microphone comes with a metal hard case for secure transport when you’re out in the field or on the move. Students, audio enthusiasts, and professionals alike can create better overall content the moment you plug in.
The TAC1100 captures a natural, precise sound thanks to a built-in output transformer that enhances and clarifies vocals and instruments. Built to naturally capture clear and distinct audio in the moment, recordings emerge sounding vivid and clarified, without users needing to fret about enhancing vocal or instrument tones post-recording. The TAC1100’s specially engineered design includes having very low handling noise, so you don’t have to worry about unwanted sounds in your recordings.
The TAC1100 can handle the entire spectrum of sound. The high end has a nice roll-off effect that rounds out the mic’s tonal character. The added mid-range depth makes , your voice or instrument punchier, sounding upfront and present so that it stands out in the mix. The low-end evens out the overall sound, allowing it to smoothly come together so that the entire range of the recording feels just right, not muddy or tubby. For tone control, the 10dB pad helps prevent the microphone from overloading from loud sound sources such as drums, screaming vocals, loud amps, or anything else you throw at the mic. To reduce rumble in a session, the low-cut switch’s filter will smooth out frequencies below 100Hz, so you get clean and clear recordings. Sound like a professional from your very first recording and make your sound come to life.
Whether you are just starting out or a seasoned pro, the TAC1100 is versatile enough for almost any recording task. The microphone’s vintage character naturally boosts the mid-range, so instrument recordings have more articulation. With singing and speech naturally being in the mid-range, singing vocal parts become distinct and clear without turning muddy, broadcasters’ voices emerge sounding smooth and radio-quality. Plus, the low-end warmth will round out any harshness. The result is a clear and full sound.
The TAC1100’s cardioid pickup setting allows you to get a polished sound for vocal and broadcast recordings. Simply use the cardioid pick-up setting and position the microphone in front of the singer or broadcaster. Capture their vocal take without picking up background noise from behind the mic. This works for both overdubbing a single track or recording everyone at once using a live tracking recording technique.
The TAC1100 is a vintage-sounding condenser microphone with 3 capsules that offer 3 polar pattern options (Cardioid, Figure 8, & Omni) for versatility. The cardioid pattern option is perfect for single voice and instrument recordings while the Figure 8 or Omni patterns let you get creative with your miking techniques. Its standard XLR connection will give you the flexibility to connect to any professional audio device plus it runs on industry-standard 48v phantom power. It is perfect for broadcast, vocal recording, instrument recording, and anything you throw at it.
