Shopper : is this the only size for the roadie11?JERRY K : They have a size larger. I can get about 70 lbs of gear in this bag.ANDREW R : http://www.adorama.com/searchsite/default.aspx?searchinfo=tenba+roadie+ii
Shopper : What is the weight of the backpack (when not in the roller case)?THOMAS R B : The weight of the entire unit is 10.5 lbs. There is no separate back-pack unit. Excellent roller backpack!!

Excellent rolling travel backpack. It's quite heavy though so make sure you check your airline's policy for travel - especially in Asia and Africa. The backpack pocket that holds the straps also bulges excessively and so I'd love to see them make it with a full-length pocket so the straps would sit flatter when stowed.

Excellent bag

I received this bag as a gift. Lucky me. It is definitely a keeper: very well made and sturdy, capable of holding a lot of gear, and offering excellent protection of said gear. The zippers and the handle operate smoothly. And the outside computer compartment is zippered. The bag is a little heavy for me to lift into an overhead compartment on an airplane (I am an unmuscular woman), but I wouldn't trade protection for less weight. I compared this Tenba bag to the Lowepro Pro Roller. It was less expensive than the Tenba, but it showed. The Lowepro zippers had trouble rounding the bag's corners. The handle would only retract if I jiggled it just right. And the outside computer compartment was not zippered. A laptop could slip out if the bag were turned upside down. (That may be a low risk event but it's not a zero risk one.)

Great bag, hopefully the quality holds up...

I've used this bag on only one gig so far, and it's great, lightweight, love it! The only problem is that at the end of an 8-hour workday, one of the wheels came off (again, this was the FIRST time I'd used it). The wheel just screws back in so I was able to fix it myself right away, but I hope this isn't a recurring problem.

Perfect size - fits DSLR, lenses and laptop!!

This case is the perfect size for your DSLR, lenses AND laptop! I easily packed a D750 and four lenses into the case with room to spare and the separate laptop compartment made it easy to remove when going through security. I also really liked the clear zipper pockets on the inside for cards, batteries, and miscellaneous items. This is a great rolling case that fits easily into the overhead bin!

Durable and Sturdy

This bag hold 2 of My DSLR cameras and with some maneuvering I can probably get a 3rd in there but I would have to remove the lens. With 2 cameras I have 4 strobes, (and there's room for about 4 lenses.) But I use the added space for other accessories. you really can configure this bag and it may take some time to figure out a configuration that suites your personal needs. I wish there were more outside pockets. The inside pockets are a bit tight but it can hold camera batteries and other attachments. I like to keep my camera manual in my case as well. I did find a spot for it but it too was a bit tight. This bag is perfectly built and very sturdy. With all my gear I'm glad it has wheels. I'm up to over 50 lbs of equipment and the have does not buckle or bulge like some other lesser bags. The only complaint is I wish it had more attachable packs. that's the only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5. I would highly recommend this bag to be of 5 star quality and build. Very comfortable to roll around.

Road II

It has wheels and plenty of handles. Easy to move about and enough hand holds to carry about.

Great choice for Safari Photo Gear

Used this for a three week safari in Botswana, Zambia, and South Africa with Nikon D300 and D7000 and, Nikon 28-300mm, Tamron 200-500 mm, Nikon 14-24mm, and Nikon 35mm lenses. Easy access for MacBook Air, iPad, and all the accessories. Fit easily under small jet seats and on bush planes between safari camps. Camera gear was heavier than my clothes backed in one duffle, but rollers made the Tenba the perfect choice.

The Tenba 638-330 Roadie II Series Hybrid Roller/Backpack Case (Black) is a serious pack for serious shooters. Whether you are still photographer or videographer, you'll find this pack has something for any discipline. It holds a ton of gear including 1-2 DSLRs, 6-8 lenses including a 400mm f/2.8 or 500mm f/4 plus a host of accessories, flash and media cards that can be stored in its separate 4-pocket wallet.

This is a weatherproof ballistic nylon pack made for DSLR, HD video or medium format photography. It also holds your 17" (43.2 cm) laptop in its own padded sleeve that is top loading for rapid retrieval at airports. If you don't use the sleeve for your laptop, the sleeve can be used for support gear like hard drives or documents. The pack is carried in any of several ways. First, it has dual ball bearing wheels that are complimented by a 4-section retractable handle - great for parking lots, stairs and airports.

For added convenience, there are reinforced top and side carry handles that will support the bag even when you've got a full load packed inside. The handles are excellent when you just need to grab the bag from your car or closet. However, it doesn't stop there since the Roadie II has a rear hidden backpack harness that can be readily deployed and leave you hands-free while walking through airports or city streets.

Inside, it's got an EVA (ethyl vinyl acetate) molded interior and padded movable dividers that permit you to sculpt the "guts" of the bag to accommodate your gear. The soft tricot lining is gear-friendly and won't damage the surface of your gear. Your medium to long range lenses or HD video rig can be packed with hoods on the lenses and tripod collar in place. Store your lenses standing up in shooting position and be ready to work when you unpack to get started shooting.

With all this gear, of course you'll need a tripod and the Roadie II features a quick-connect carry system that will attach just about any size tripod or light stand to the pack. Your quick-release tripod collar can be stashed within the rear pocket of the pack when not required. There is also a fair amount of internal storage space for accessories in laminated mesh pockets that are perfect for your cables, filters, repair kits and other small items.

Accessing the bag is easy using the heavy-duty YKK zippers. On the outside, there is front pocket to hold quick-access items such as tickets, passports and keys. For the shooter who needs a more than durable pack to get from A-B in comfort, style and safety, the Roadie II supplies the tools to get the job done. This pack, that holds a ton of gear at only 10.5 lb (4.8 kg) appears to be a complete package that meets the requirements of even the most demanding photographer.
