Meter with Precision
Naturally no piece of equipment can replace your ears, but precise metering allows you to visually confirm specific details about your mix, making the process of setting optimum signal levels both quicker and easier. With the CLARITY M you get a wealth of dedicated meters, that can greatly help you improve your mix - and with the 7" high-resolution screen, you are sure to always get maximum precision and definition in the readouts.
By providing you with both that quick overview and the ever-important fine points at a glance, the precision meters of the CLARITY M is perfectly suited for any mixing or mastering job - whether it's for music, picture or drama.
Free Your DAW
Most plug-ins, like reverbs and compressors, you only fire up a few times during a session; you adjust the appropriate parameters and close the plug-in once you're done in order to save precious screen real-estate. Your metering tools, however, need to be in plain sight at all times. The CLARITY M connects seamlessly with your DAW workflow via a USB connection and allows you to get precise readouts from any output, you need.
With the visual feedback of your mix pushed to a permanent screen, you no longer need to move plug-in windows around to have both your sequencer, effects and meters visible. CLARITY M is quite simply the perfect integration of two worlds.
What's new in 2.0?
The free software update for Clarity M will take your metering to the next level. The update is highly music oriented and adds a string of requests from the user community.
Meters Overview
With the high resolution LCD display of the Clarity M, you're readout will always be crisp and clear. Unparalleled in functions, the Clarity M provides a veritable audio toolbox to help you make the right mix and mastering decisions - in any studio environment All the meters below are available out-of-the-box, no additional licenses required.
Vector Scope
Clarity M's high precision vector scope traces your left and right audio waveforms into a cloud-like shape, that will help you identify important stereo balance and phase issues in your mix. The vector scope will automatically scale to the input levels and you can of course customize the scope color any way you like.
Balance-O-Meter
Checking the spatial balance of your mix is paramount in securing that your mix has a well balanced stereo image and optimum stereo width. With the innovative Balance-O-Meter of Clarity M in your metering arsenal, you have quick access to your Left-Right as well as Mid-Side balances in one unified view.
Loudness Radar
Our legendary Loudness Radar meter is essential when it comes to monitoring the loudness of your mix. With your short-term loudness history on the scope, the Radar helps you get the levels just right, while the momentary loudness in the outer ring of the meter keeps an eye on your instant loudness level.
The momentary loudness of your signal is based on a sliding 400ms window, making it a valuable aid in setting initial levels when you start a new mix. The short-term loudness overview is especially important to keep an eye on when mixing material on the fly, as it responds quickly when you adjust your mix, making it a helpful indicator of where your loudness is in relation to the target value - moment for moment.
True-Peak
Based on our highly acclaimed true-peak technology, the True-Peak meter identifies potential clipping in codecs and digital-to-analog converters and helps you avoid unwanted distortion. Contrary to the traditional sample-peak method, the true-peak level takes the peaks of the underlying analog signal into account, instead of relying solely on the maximum level of the digital samples.
This makes it an extremely valuable estimate of the headroom required to handle a signal without clipping - which is why the technology forms a fundamental part of international loudness delivery standards.
Downmix Compliance
If you're mixing for picture or television, you probably put most of your studio time into the surround mix. It is however important to remember that most end listeners are listening to your work on stereo speakers in the living room. With the Downmix Compliance meter you can easily avoid bad downmix surprises and ensure that your mix sounds great whether played back in stereo, mono or full glorious. It's never been this easy.
Correlation
Phase issues are a fact of life and practically unavoidable. But the sooner you catch a phase problem, the easier it will be to fix. The telltale signs of phase problems are many and diverse. A typical - and audible - result of phasing issues is a thin-sounding signal with little or no low frequency sound. Another is that your lead vocal panned to the center disappear, while the reverbs panned to the sides remain.
With the stereo and surround correlation meters built into the Clarity M, you can easily identify these and other anomalies that are easy to miss when relying solely on your ears.
Real Time Analyzer
With its 1/3 octave resolution, the high accuracy Real Time Analyzer (RTA) provides a solid overview of the spectral distribution of your mix and can assist you in trimming away a lot of excess, giving you a tighter mix. The RTA's individual band zoom lets you pinpoint exact frequencies - even outside your hearing range. This is an essential tool when it comes to figuring out where your mix is mudding up, as you can easily figure out which frequencies to scoop out without loosing the impact of your mix.
Statistics Overview
The statistics overview gives you a good indication of how loud or dynamic your mix is and keeps you in complete compliance with international loudness standards. Its exact readout gives you key parameters such as Program Loudness, True-Peak Max, Loudness Range (LRA) and Peak-to-Loudness Ratio (PLR). The stats are easily reset using either the dedicated button on the Clarity M or remote control from your DAW via the plug-in.
