Mechanical smoke generators are often used to enhance realism where smoke is normally encountered. This can be difficult, costly and less desirable to work in a smoke-filled environment. 

Adds a whole different vibe. Takes off some of that digital sharpness.

This one's a keeper

Love most of my Tiffen filters but barely use this one. It has very limited uses. The filter itself does what it's designed to do so no complaint there. Just not a fan of it's aesthetic and the way certain light & shadow in the room impact the look (i.e. person crossing the room impacts glow in ways that make the filter obvious).

Much better to just get a cheap fog machine and actually haze the room than use this. Use the Tiffen Black Pro Mist with some real haze and you'll be MUCH happier.
