Review Summary

Well constructed. Screws on and off easily with no sign of binding. I know that there have been quality control issues in on some specific items, but the one I received is excellent. While it doesn't really matter, I really like the included cases in this line. Been using it in the subzero temps the last week and results have been good.

I have a lot of Tiffen filters, and I like them all. Tiffen filters run the gamut from cheapo to high quality. This lens is more of the latter.

Tiffen filters are the best! The quality is excellent and fit and finish is too. I use only tiffen ND and CPL filters, I haven't ever had a problem with them.

Never tried Tiffen's Digital HT filters before, but I really love the quality of the glass of this filter, esp. for waterfall shots in any bright daylight situation so I can use slower 2"-4" shutter speed to get the buttery soft look of moving bodies of water without sacrificing image quality.

I own a Sony, an Hoya and this Tiffen ND filter. Maybe it's me but I have the impression this filter leaves a blue tint in my pictures that neither the Sony nor the Hoya produce.

This 4X neutral density filter is somewhat weak to use capturing fogs or waterfalls on the bright day. So I recommend you to use it with polarize filter or one more netural density filters which you can make really slow shutter speed up to 3 to 8 stops more... I got 16X when I bought 4X from Adorama which seems good combination I guess!

I have a lot of Tiffen filters, and I like them all. Tiffen filters run the gamut from cheapo to high quality. This lens is more of the latter.
Before diving into the world of photography, it's essential to equip yourself with the right tools. The 58mm Digital HT 16x (1.2) Neutral Density Glass Filter, with a light transmission of 6.25%, is one such tool that can significantly enhance your photographic experience. This Neutral Density (ND) filter is designed to uniformly reduce the amount of light entering your lens without altering the color balance.
Ideal for situations with excessive brightness, this ND filter allows you to maintain a large aperture for a narrow depth of field. This feature is particularly useful when you want to highlight a key subject by blurring the foreground and/or background. Moreover, it enables slower shutter speeds, which is perfect for capturing motion blur or showing movement in your shots.
The 58mm Digital HT 16x (1.2) Neutral Density Glass Filter also helps balance exposure, allowing you to use higher speed films in bright light conditions. Crafted from the purest optical quality glass, this filter incorporates Tiffen's award-winning ColorCore technology for superior performance.
The standout feature of this filter is its High Transmission (HT) multi-coating technology. This double-sided coated filter boasts the strength of titanium, offering unmatched scratch-resistant durability and worry-free cleaning. Unlike other coated filters, the Digital HT filters are not sensitive to cleaning procedures, thanks to their robust titanium coating that protects against damage and marking.
The filter also features a low-profile titanium finish ring and an anti-reflective black lock ring, giving it a distinctive look that sets it apart from other filters. Available in a range of sizes from 52mm-82mm, the Digital HT filters are proudly made in the USA, ensuring top-notch quality and performance.
Whether you're a professional photographer or a hobbyist, the 58mm Digital HT 16x (1.2) Neutral Density Glass Filter is a must-have accessory for your camera kit.
