It's the perfect tool for correcting the use of daylight film with standard household incandescent lamps.With a filter factor of 2.4, this versatile filter requires 1 1/3 f-stops of additional light. It's designed to work with all light sources, whether natural or artificial, and effectively manages their characteristics that impact color rendition on film. This filter is engineered to be compatible with most films designed for daylight or tungsten photofloods, rated respectively at 5500K degrees (daylight) and 3400K degrees (photofloods) on the Kelvin(K) color temperature scale.The 80A Color Conversion Filter is part of Tiffen's renowned 80 series of filters, designed to 'warm', 'cool', and correct for the many variations of lighting you might encounter. Each filter in this series has a 'filter factor', a measurement of the light it absorbs. Cameras with internal metering will automatically adjust the exposure, making this filter a reliable choice for photographers and videographers.Note that modern strobes (flash) are approximately 5500K and will 'overpower' household lighting. With daylight film, no filtration is necessary unless special effects are desired. The 80 series filters come in several strengths and are available in most sizes. Other filters in the 80 series include the 80B for use with tungsten photofloods and the 80C for use with clear flash bulbs. Other useful color correcting filters include the 85 series for tungsten film in daylight, the 81 series for a warming effect, and the 82 series for a cooling effect.
