Whether you're beginner or pro at IR photographic images, this filter is very good for the price & is being used on a NIKON zoom lens, 24mm to 120mm without any issues so far.

It is good that the optic was unclear as this is a "black" filter intended for Digital and Film Infrared Photography. It passes only Infrared light and for this the Tiffin #87 performs well in excess of expectations !!

I got this filter to experiment with infrared digital photography. This filter provides for amazing results with my Nikon Coolpix 4300. I might, however suggest trying an R-72 first if you are unsure which filter to start with for infrared. This filter blocks too much for some of my other cameras.

Infrared Filters
Various filters are used to reduce unwanted visible light. Total visible light absorption, transmitting only infrared, can be useful. Prior testing is recommended.
