The filter itself is fine, the usual good quality. But the thread on the outside slanted to avoid blocking the wide angle view of the lens, prevent the lens cap from latching on the filter, making the lens cap not usable. If you don’t use a lens cap, that’s perfectly good filter.

Works well. The one issue that I have is that the lens cap barely has enough threads to hang onto. Though this is because of its short profile.

While this fits on a non wide angle lens, it most likely will interfere with your lens cap.

Ordered this filter for an Olympus 18-180mm lens. This filter is just fine but I had to return it as the lens cap for the lens did not fit on the external rim of the filter. I have had Tiffen filters in the past and present and they are nice filters. Just a bit of caution with this one as the thickness of the rim may not hold your lens cap. That is the only reason I gave it four stars[...] and ordered a B+W filter in it's place that should arrive any day now from them.

the filter had an insert that prevented me from placing another filter over it and prevented the lens cap from going on I removed it not knowing that it was all that held in the glass. The filter fell out and broke. I am not sure why it was constructed this way since the standard nikon lens cap will not go on the lens with the filter on.

I love Tiffen UV haze filters, and use them consistently on all my lenses, except when Tiffen doesn't make a UV in the size I need (95mm, for example...)The 58mm Haze-1 has performed in the UV blockage/lens dust protection mode for a Sigma 70-300 DG non-APO macro lens that I own, ever since I purchased that lens. I recommend placing a Tiffen (or Hoya) UV Haze-1 or -2 filter on any camera lens you own! It's better to have to replace a [$] filter, than a $159 lens, because you bashed the filter ring to the point of unfixability! (I know, I have done that particular error...)

Safeguard your lens and absorb UV light. Film and video are more sensitive to UV light than our eyes are. This often shows up as a bluish cast in images, especially shots from high altitudes and long distances, particularly over water. Ultra Violet filters are available in a variety of UV absorption levels.
Note! Tiffen wide-angle filters have low profile rings to prevent vignetting which can occur when using standard filters on ultra wide angle lenses. They do not have a front thread, and can not accept standard snap on lens caps
