roberta b : (6) 67mm Orange barrier filters #8 (6) 67mm Yellow barrier filters #16 (1) 60mm Orange barrier filter (1) 60mm Yellow barrier filter ** These are for use with an alternate light source. The lenses we have are Nikkor 16-85mm lens (67mm filter) and a 60mm Nikkor lens. If there is not a 60mm filter, I take it we would need (1) 62mm to 58mm step down ring and then (1) 58mm Orange barrier filter and (1) 58mm Yellow barrier filter instead. WIlL these filters work for this application?Jon G : I see that you asked this question 2+ years ago, but to add to the statements below ... For use with an alternate light source, you should consider the following: Yellow 15, Orange 21, Dk Orange (light red) 23A, Red 25. Everyone else is correct, these filters are used for B&W photography, except in our industry, we need these for very specific application work. Also, you are correct, use a step ring to go from your lens to the filter. If you have two lenses you want to use the filters on, if possible always purchase a filter for the larger lens, or larger and use step rings to go from your lens to the filter. Its the most economical way of owning one set of lenses. Good LuckPAUL D : Sorry, but I cannot be of help here. I am using the lenses for photoelasticity. This is a method for visualizing stress that draws on the birefringent properties of some plastics. The filters are working well for this application, but that's about all can say. Regards, PaulPAUL U : These filters are traditionally not for use with color photography. They are designed to be used on the front of the lens of a film camera when using black-and-white film. the yellow filter removes some of the excess blue light found in the atmosphere and helps to enhance the normal book of black-and-white film, well the orange and red filters more dramatically enhance sky and contrast.DANIEL P : The filters you mention (67 mm #8 & #16) are generally used for B&W photography. The number 8 filter is often used to obtain a greyscale tonal rendition very similar to the "natural" eye conversion from color to B&W film. The number 16 filter removes more blue and green light as well as a little red light from the illumination to give a B&W rendering with dark blues/tones/skys, somewhat darker greens and slightly darker reds on B&W film. You are correct in needing a step-down ring to mount the 67mm filters on a 60-58 mm lens - but these are very inexpensive. I hope this helps. Dan

About Tiffen 67mm 8 Filter, Yellow
