Great for the price. Put it on RF 100-400 mm lens and definitely cleared up the haze

I shoot at 5000' to 14,000' in the central Rockies. One of the problems at these altitudes is the hard UV and atmospheric haze that develops sometimes. I have used this filter for many years with great success. The filter was originally designed for use in aerial photography (shooting through long atmospheric paths through haze at altitude). It has a sharp cutoff at ~400nm rather than at ~360 or 370nm. Thus blocking the longer wavelength UV. This makes the filter ideal for high altitude pix. I would suggest it for anyone shooting in the mountains. I use it as an all-round UV and protective filter on most of my lenses.

The main thing it protects my lens and makes my colors more vivid. When I need all the light I can get through my lens it doesn't interfere with my f-stop.

Very effective haze-cutting, provides lens protection. Performs exactly as I expect Tiffen filters to perform, I've used them for over fifty years.

Cuts haze well, this stays on my lens for protection. I live in an upland valley, so haze is a constant problem.

Feb 2010 - ordered 2 identical filters and a new Canon lense; already have a Canon lense that needed a filter too. One of the Tiffen filters fit both lenses, the other did not fit either one. First filter had classic metal finish; second had new non-glare powder coat finish and that 'thickened' the threads so it would not screw into the lense! Not even the brand new lense that I ordered with it.[...]Until this is acknowledged and fixed DO NOT BUY this filter. And who knows what other filters don't fit. Good luck.

Tiffen is quality with a good price.
Where photography meets innovation, the 72mm UV-2A Haze-2A (Ultra Violet) Glass Filter stands out as a crucial accessory for any serious photographer. This high-quality filter is designed to absorb Ultra Violet (UV) light, a feature that is particularly beneficial since film is more sensitive to UV light than the human eye.
The UV light absorption capability of this filter helps to prevent the common issue of haze or a bluish cast in your photos, especially when shooting from high altitudes or long distances, and notably over water. This makes the 72mm UV-2A Haze-2A filter an excellent tool for landscape and outdoor photography.
Beyond enhancing your photo quality, this UV filter also serves a protective function. It shields your valuable lens from common threats such as dust, moisture, fingerprints, and scratches, as well as potential damage from cleaning. This dual functionality makes it a practical addition to your camera gear, as it can remain on your lens at all times without affecting color or contrast in your images.
The Tiffen 72mm UV-2A Haze-2A filter is part of a diverse range of UV filters available, each offering different absorption levels and sizes. From the standard UV filter, which is the most popular protection filter, to the UV MC that is multi-coated for extra flare protection, there is a filter to suit every photographer's needs.
For those seeking to combine UV protection with a warming effect, the UV Warm filter integrates UV absorption with Tiffen's '812' warming filter. The Haze series of filters offer varying degrees of UV light absorption, with the Haze 17 absorbing almost all UV light. For wide-angle lens users, the UV Wide Angle Thin filter is specifically designed for your needs.
In summary, the 72mm UV-2A Haze-2A (Ultra Violet) Glass Filter is a high-quality, versatile tool that enhances image quality while protecting your lens, making it a valuable investment for photographers of all levels.
