Tiffen 77mm Digital HT Ultra Clear Glass Filter

I've been using Tiffen's Ultra Clear filters to protect all of my lenses for the past five years, upgrading to the HT (High Transmission) version a few years ago, so I ordered this filter in anticipation of getting Sigma's new 17-40mm f/1.8 DC Art lens. I was a bit surprised that the pictures here showed the packaging for Tiffen's less expensive filters, and showed the filter in a black, not silver, mount, but it did say "HT" so I held my breath and ordered it. Got it and found it was in the usual classy packaging and in a silver titanium mount.

Works ok. Can?t notice any negative impact on the image quality. One minor detail is that the housing is shiny silver. It looks weird and might even cause some reflection since it is also silver on the inner edge (half of the thread).

Very pleased with this tiffen filter. It fits perfectly on my 77mm diameter canon 24-70mm f/2.8 lens and the construction feels very good. Still able to use the original canon lens cap over it which is a plus.

Tiffen makes great products, and this is one of them. I purchased it for the water white clear glass and the coatings that allow for ease of cleaning. The titanium frame is a plus because it threads easily onto the lens. It looks nice too. This product is great for protecting the lens. Love the 10 year warranty, and that it's made in the USA.

Better than the average cheap filter when it comes to reflections but after extremely light use there are multiple specks and scratches in the coating. The coating is one of the most fragile I've ever seen.

The Tiffen 77mm Digital HT Ultra Clear Glass Filter is definitely a well made filter. The photos taken are not affected in way as they do come out as if there is no filter on my lens. Also, the superb protection it provides the lens is a positive attribute. Well worth every penny...

These filters are among the best Tiffen has ever made. They are machined to fit perfectly, and the anti-reflection coating is tough enough to withstand cleanings. If you have a fifty dollar Nikkor or a Leica lens worth more than a house, it should have a Tiffen on the front.

Place the clear filter over the lens when both are new and the lens stays protected. Always use the lens cap too.

This filter is very clear, so far, aside from protecting the lens I can not tell it is on in any of my photographs. I have not done any night photography yet, to see if it add any unwanted effects. Great filter.

If you're looking for a UV filter, this is a great choice. I have several on different 77mm Canon L lenses. You can't go wrong.

The Tiffen DHT series is a high end multi-coat 'high-transmission' product that is very scratch resistant and extremely easy to clean. It's also called their 'Water-White' glass series as they use this expensive low-iron ultra-clear glass product known for its exceptional clarity. Tiffen's DHT 'Clear' filter is excellent protection for your valuable lenses without compromising your image quality. The only time I might ever take this filter off is with nighttime very low light work where the potential for coma exists when shooting near an artificial light source. I haven't tried that scenario yet with this filter so it may be a non-issue.

i leave it on the lens all the time. it saves stacking two filters and cuts out vignetting at the wide angle.

This is the only filter I use on any of my lenses. When I was shooting professionally I worked around fine dirt, sand, water and animals. While others ran away from the side of a 4' pool, I would stand and get splashed, do a quick wipe and shoot some more. Now I shoot for fun, but my standards have not lowered. Every new lens gets this filter. Absolute perfection.

I use the Tiffen HT Filters to protect my 6 DSLR lenses. I have great trust in the Tiffen HT filters. Other brand filters do not seem to take the punishment of the Tiffen HT. I have had some filters actually fall apart with little abuse. The Tiffen HT is the best!!!

Protect front lens element and the plastic construction of DX lens. A similar Tiffen has saved one of my lens, eventho it was protected by a bag.

Well made product. Excellent optical quality. Much better than the UV filter it replaced. Time will tell if it's as tough as the mfr. says but so far it's been cleaned a dozen or so times with no discernible flaws. No mean feat as it's used in some very hot, dusty conditions

I use this filter on my 100mm macro f2.8 Canon lens, which is an "L" lens and I think it is great protection for an expensive lens such as this. It has worked very well for me.
