Tom T : Please explain the difference between between standard and slim/wide angle UV lens?ZIGA T : My understanding is that slim filters reduce the chance of difraction to which wide angled lenses are sensitive toJOHN H : The standard attachment ring is taller/thicker than a slim/wide angle attachment ring and can cause vignetting with wide angle lenses.
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?Charles H : In the Mountains of the Western Carolina the haze is bad in the summer time this is a great filter. It can't get it all but it makes a big difference. Worth the price.

Touches center of my $1000.00 lens

Touches center of lens on my $1000.00 Olympus 12-40mm Pro lens. Discovered when noticing image center was blurry. Luckily no visable damage to lens and blur was gone with filter removed. You could see dot on lens grow through Tiffen Filter as filter reached stop. Also purchased Tiffen ND 3.0 filter and its the same. Would give it Zero stars for potentially damaging front lens element.

I would buy this product again and again

I have 77mm, 72mm, 67mm and 52mm Tiffen Digital HT Haze 86 for lens protection. They are some of the best filters ever made and they are made in the U. S. A.

Great haze filter

This 86% is considerably more expensive than my usual choices for protective glass. I bought it for my 16 85 VR Nikon and my 70 300 VR Nikon lenses, both of which I use at altitudes in excess of 1800 METERS in a sunny area. My images are sharp with bold colors and do not have a hazy cast. I highly recommend this filter.

I would buy this product again.

I use this filter to protect the lens. I dropped the camera on the floor last week. It landed on the filter side. The filter is still very good, only the frame is a little bent. And the camera is not damaged.

I would buy this product again and again

I work downtown and there is a lot construction going on and from the 10th floor you can see just thick the haze is. I have been very surprise just how clear my photos appear from my weekly walkabouts around town. I have plans on fitting this filter to some other lens and I would not hesitate recommending this filter to a friend.

This Tiffen Digital HT Filter has 86% absorption of Ultra Violet (UV) light. Film is more sensitive to Ultra Violet light than our eyes. This often shows up as a haze or a bluish cast, especially when shot from high altitudes and from long distances, particularly over water.

UV filters also help protect your lens from dust, moisture, fingerprints, scratches and damage from cleaning.

Since they absorb no normal light and have no effect on color or contrast, they can be kept on your lens at all times.

Tiffen Ultra Violet filters are available in a variety of absorbtion levels and sizes.
