Great for the price. Put it on RF 100-400 mm lens and definitely cleared up the haze

I shoot at 5000' to 14,000' in the central Rockies. One of the problems at these altitudes is the hard UV and atmospheric haze that develops sometimes. I have used this filter for many years with great success. The filter was originally designed for use in aerial photography (shooting through long atmospheric paths through haze at altitude). It has a sharp cutoff at ~400nm rather than at ~360 or 370nm. Thus blocking the longer wavelength UV. This makes the filter ideal for high altitude pix. I would suggest it for anyone shooting in the mountains. I use it as an all-round UV and protective filter on most of my lenses.

The main thing it protects my lens and makes my colors more vivid. When I need all the light I can get through my lens it doesn't interfere with my f-stop.

Very effective haze-cutting, provides lens protection. Performs exactly as I expect Tiffen filters to perform, I've used them for over fifty years.

Cuts haze well, this stays on my lens for protection. I live in an upland valley, so haze is a constant problem.

Feb 2010 - ordered 2 identical filters and a new Canon lense; already have a Canon lense that needed a filter too. One of the Tiffen filters fit both lenses, the other did not fit either one. First filter had classic metal finish; second had new non-glare powder coat finish and that 'thickened' the threads so it would not screw into the lense! Not even the brand new lense that I ordered with it.[...]Until this is acknowledged and fixed DO NOT BUY this filter. And who knows what other filters don't fit. Good luck.

Be prepared to capture pristine outdoor photographs with the 82mm UV-2A Haze-2A (Ultra Violet) Glass Filter, a high-quality accessory designed to enhance your photography experience. This durable filter is crafted to effectively block out ultraviolet (UV) light, which is more sensitive to film and digital sensors than the human eye. By absorbing UV light, the filter reduces the appearance of haze and the bluish cast that often occurs when shooting from high altitudes or across long distances, particularly over bodies of water.
The versatile 82mm UV-2A Haze-2A Glass Filter not only improves image clarity and contrast but also serves as a reliable layer of protection for your lens. It shields the delicate surface from dust, moisture, fingerprints, scratches, and potential damage caused by cleaning, ensuring your lens remains in top condition. The filter's ability to absorb UV light without affecting normal visible light means it can remain on your lens at all times, providing constant protection without impacting color balance or contrast.
Tiffen, a reputable brand in the photography industry, offers this Ultra Violet filter as part of their comprehensive range, which includes various absorption levels to meet the specific needs of photographers. From the standard UV filter, favored for its general protection properties, to specialized versions like the UV MC with multi-coating for extra flare protection, and the UV Warm which combines UV filtering with Tiffen's '812' warming filter for a touch of warmth in your images.
For those seeking maximum UV light absorption, the Haze filters range from Haze 1, which absorbs 75% of UV light, to Haze 17, which absorbs almost all UV light, providing options for varying levels of haze reduction. Additionally, the UV Wide Angle Thin filter is specially designed for use with wide-angle lenses, ensuring that even those with a broader field of view can benefit from UV filtration without vignetting.
In summary, the 82mm UV-2A Haze-2A (Ultra Violet) Glass Filter is an essential tool for photographers looking to achieve clear, high-contrast images while protecting their valuable lenses. Its effectiveness and reliability make it a smart choice for anyone looking to enhance their outdoor photography and safeguard their equipment against the elements and accidental damage.
