Did a test shot. WB set to sun. Focus set to manual. Aperture set to f/16. ISO set to 200. Mounted on tripod with shutter release cable. No filter - the shutter speed was 1/30 sec. With filter, shutter speed 2.5 seconds. Approx 6x exposure time, which matches advertised ratio of 1:128. HOWEVER, the shot with the filter had a decided greenish-aqua color cast. This color cast can be removed easily in post processing.

Using it as a standalone and also in combination with another ND filter to further increase the stops; minimal tint

These are the #1 piece of gear to grab for shooting on DSLR's during bright, sunny lighting conditions. The whole series of IRND filters by Tiffin allow you to shoot at shallow depth of field to create that iconic, filmic look.

Last year, I was selected as a beta tester for the new Nikon PocketWizard system, but I've been waiting until now to get my hands on the production models. Was it worth the wait?

The Tiffen 52mm IRND 0.6 Filter expertly combines the benefits of both neutral density and infrared control in one highly efficient product. Designed to reduce light transmission by two stops, this filter allows photographers to maintain their desired depth of field without altering the shutter speed or aperture. By reducing the ISO to one-quarter, it enables the capture of high-quality images even in bright conditions.
Crafted from top-tier Water White glass, the Tiffen IRND filter ensures supreme clarity and color fidelity. Unlike standard ND filters, the Tiffen IRND 0.6 does not have a sharp cutoff at infrared wavelengths, which means the full spectrum of colors captured by advanced sensors is preserved. This results in images that are vibrant and true to life, free from the undesirable effects of IR contamination.
The precision engineering of this filter ensures that images remain crisp and clean, a hallmark of the exceptional quality that Water White glass provides. Furthermore, the Tiffen 52mm IRND 0.6 Filter offers enhanced flexibility in post-production, particularly beneficial for workflows involving 8-bit compressed color. This makes it an indispensable tool for both professional and enthusiast photographers who demand the best in image quality and post-processing latitude.
Ideal for a wide range of photographic applications, from landscape to urban scenes, the Tiffen 52mm IRND 0.6 Filter is a versatile accessory that helps to achieve creative effects while safeguarding image integrity. Whether you're shooting with a DSLR, mirrorless camera, or a professional video camera, this filter is engineered to enhance your photographic results consistently.
