Tiffen 55mm 8x (0.9) Neutral Density Glass Filter works as it suppose to

I take hundreds of pictures outdoors and use neutral density filters on snowy days and during sunny days on and around the water. If you shoot video, you definitely need a neutral density filter. This filter is good for video on days when it's not super bright out, and I use it quite a bit for wildlife videos on Youtube. For bright sunny days, you'll need a higher density filter.

This is the second tiffen ND glass I have, the first being for a different thread and I can very certainly say I have been nothing but satisfied with them.

the product is of very good quality, I thought it would introduce noise in my image, but the results are very good. there is no noise and only a yellow cast of color that is immediately corrected in post. Good quality

I have never bought a neutral density filter from this brand. I was a little worried at first. But the product that came was just as great as any of the other ones that I bought. Very happy with my purchase

Those filter helped me a lot filming in the daytime. I didn’t have overexposed footage which was the reason I bought in the first place, without it I had recorded footage that I barely saved. This filter took care of that with no problem.

A must for landscape photography. I used this filter on my last trip to Glacier National Park and the result was exceptional. Set the camera on Aperture Priority and shoot away. Eliminate glare and let's all the colors in.

Good value. I used it on an extremely sunny day and produced a great image. It also had the benefit of providing around a 2 stop reduction in light giving more flexibility.

I would recommend this filter. Works as expected and is great quality. Unbeatable for the price. Only 4 stars instead of 5 because it is very hard to remove from the lense.

If you're not sure why the above title is true, put this filter on your wish list and go find out; the web is filled with tutorials on how to use one. The things that an ND filter lets you do with your camera you simply cannot do any other way are, with a measure of creativity and patience, pretty amazing. One tip: get the Xume adapter/filter rings for whatever lens you think you will use this filter on most. It's nearly impossible to compose your shot with the filter in place, and the Xume system lets you easily place and remove the filter while you are setting up your shot. Tiffen makes some of the best filters on the market; yes, you can pay a lot more, but I would challenge anyone to prove that a ND four-stop filter does a better job than this one. Highly recommended.

I've never bought a ND filter before so I wasn't sure what to expect but this had the perfect tint.

I use the ND filters when using color film.I load up with ISO 400 or 800 film instead of pushing or pulling the color film. Color film is touchy. I collect film cameras, 53 so far in all. Don't have enough ND filters to go around.

I have used Tiffen filters for years and find them consistenly very good. These are no exception and I have used their Neutral Denity filters in my travel photography. They give excellent results.

I'm using the 3-stop 62mm ND filter for video and so far it works well. No noticeable color shifts or loss of sharpness. Only complaint is that there's no convenient case to carry it so I had to use one from a different filter.

Works as expected. I use it on a Tamron 70-200 2.8 lens. I photograph motocross racing’. I like using a shutter speed of 200 to show the wheels turning. I can use a wide aperture to defocus the background with this with this ND filter.

Great filter
By noelskilz
Great solid filter - I use these for shooting weddings in the middle of the day in full sun. They work great to allow me to use a shallow depth of field and fill flash at full power to reduce shadows
Puts real colors back!!
By BRYAN E.
Puts the true colors back into each picture. Your pictures can look just as real as if you were looking in polarized sunglasses. After trying this filter, I bought one for all of my lenses.
The Tiffen ADVANTIX filter is designed to be used on DSLR cameras in B&W or Color mode plus APS-C sensors in these modes when used in combination with lenses approved for IR photography. Designed to take extreme long exposure photographs in manual set up, the ADVANTIX filter will allow you to blur any movement in your image.
Used to lower shutter speeds to produce a smooth softening effect on objects and matter in motion, such as water, tall grass, cars, clouds, etc.
Reduces the amount of light passing through camera lens
Eliminates near IR light pollution up to 850nm
Especially useful in bright light conditions to help prevent overexposure; balances exposure
Eliminates overly bright, washed out images
The intensity of this effect is achieved through adjustments in manual mode of aperture, shutter and ISO settings. Designed to remove the near IR polluting light waves that the AxENT filter allows through, the ADVANTIX removes these polluting light waves by introducing an active absorbing element.
This element adds a slight greenish color cast to the filter, which can be adjusted for, either in your camera's white balance settings or in your post software afterwards. (Since not all IR light waves are removed, Tiffen recommends that you use lenses approved for IR photography on APS-C and Micro 4/3 sensor size cameras)
