While the SmartRack 42U Mid-Depth Rack Enclosure Cabinet with Doors and Side Panels (SR42UBMD) may appear standard, it offers a unique depth of 36 inches (927 millimeters), as opposed to the typical 42 inches. This compact design doesn't compromise on ventilation, boasting a front-to-rear ventilation capacity that meets or even surpasses server manufacturer requirements.

The SR42UBMD is designed with integrated baying tabs, allowing for easy combination with multiple enclosures in rows, making it an ideal choice for data center applications. It's also compatible with hot-aisle/cold-aisle configurations, providing flexibility in your server setup.

This robust enclosure can house up to three-thousand pounds (1360.8 kilograms) of standard 19-inch rack equipment in its 42U space. The front and rear pairs of vertical rails feature adjustable square mounting holes, which can be modified in quarter-inch increments from four to 28.75 inches. This quick adjustment feature, coupled with an easy-view depth index, ensures consistent rail placement without the need for time-consuming measurements.

The SR42UBMD is designed with user convenience in mind. Each rack space within the enclosure is numbered for easy reference. Two of the adjustable vertical mounting rails support toolless button-mount 0U installation of up to four compatible PDUs and cable managers. This feature simplifies cabling to rack equipment and reduces cord clutter.

Security is a top priority with the SR42UBMD. Its locking, reversible, removable front and rear doors, along with locking, removable side panels, provide ultimate equipment safety. The side panels are half size for ease of removal and reinstallation, and the split rear door design allows the enclosure to be placed closer to a wall.

The SR42UBMD meets all requirements for PCI DSS compliance, ensuring your data is secure. The top panel is vented to help remove warm air from the enclosure and draw in cool air by convection. It also includes ports for cable routing and can be quickly removed without tools.

For easy cable access, the SR42UBMD is open-bottom. All components are grounded to the enclosure frame, with front and rear threaded grounding points provided for connection to the facility earth ground. The removable front and rear doors feature quick-release ground wires.

To simplify deployment, the SR42UBMD comes with preinstalled casters for easy maneuvering into the desired location, where it can be secured by adjusting the preinstalled levelers. The enclosure ships fully assembled for rapid deployment and rolls into place on these pre-installed casters.
