I really love having this portable surge protector for travel and daily carry. It's small enough to fit easily into my regular laptop bag. The built in USB ports are convenient for charging small devices, and having 3 grounded plugs have saved the day when I've been working with colleagues near a single outlet. The only thing to be cautious about is using this 3 outlet protector with an overseas outlet converter. It's only intended to plug in to US-style wall outlets.

Love the update to the USB ports. I had the previous version with lower amperage. One improvement would be some type of 90 degree adapter for the plug or a swivel. I had to plug into a strip at a customer site recently where the outlets were mounted such that the cord extended parallel, which required me to find two empty outlets so I could bend the cord out of the way.

I use the 3-outlet surge protector when I travel and staying in hotels. My only constructive criticism is the shape of the unit. Did you really need to give it a hour-glass shape? it's a waste of space as it takes up more room in already crowded suitcase. Keep up the good work Tripp-Lite

anytime i head out of the house with computer in hand, i take this surge protector with me. You never know what or how dependable the power source is you're using to power your valuable equipment. Simply can't afford to have my equipment get fried out there. And the usb charging ports are a bonus. The joules protection was nearly double the next competition's rating was, and nearly at the same price. no brainer.

Finally, a quality surge protector that was designed specifically for travel. It is small enough to stuff into any suitcase or bag. Excellent product. This brand has a great reputation. Easy to sign up for my product on the website for the warranty. And I like that unless there is a user error or other outlying issue that any product I have plugged into it that has an issue will be covered up to $25,000.

Use this primarily for travel, like the flat plug. Original one bought 2016 -- still working fine (used daily as an extension in Kid's dorm room.) An interim travel replacement failed in less than a year's usage. Went back to trusty original w/ it's Surge Protector.

I should have read the specs more closely or asked questions about the device. The plug takes up both spaces on a duplex wall outlet because it is fixed in a down position that must be plugged in the top outlet. The cord very cleverly wraps around the device when packed for travel. But, the cord is so short (about 18 inches that the device can’t reach a table top next to the wall when plugged into a wall outlet 15 inches above the floor (common height).

Very disappointed! On my first trip, when I plugged it into the wall, I heard a noise, smelled burning electrics, and the protected light went out. So, I had no surge protection for the entire trip!

After trying to use this charger several times and in several places, we threw it away. It blew the circuits in Italy. So then we thought - whoops, must be only for US electricity. Got back to US and tried it again. Same result. BAM—blew the circuit. Since I had tossed the box, I threw it away. Don’t buy this surge suppressor!!!

I wanted to use the product for international travel. I like the compact size, the short 18" cord and the number of USB and standard plug outlets for handling multiple devices. However, it did not suit my needs as expected. I used it with a power converter. When I plugged it into the power converter, it popped and did not work. I was able to use the power converter alone but it only has one plug outlet limiting the number of devices I can use/charge at one time.
