Great value

I like Tamron lenses, cheaper than stock lenses for your camera body and the image quality is very good. I like how the stabilizer grabs the picture even at long focal distances.

Good lens, but compared to 18-135, added weight and lower image quality outweigh added reach

Bought it to try to replace my XF 18-135 using an X-S10 body. Ended up returning it. First, it was significantly larger and heavier than the 18-135, and, at least for me, the image quality was slightly worse. I think that for 90% of shooting situations, getting out to 300 mm is not necessary, so I decided that the lower weight and higher image quality on the 18-135 was a better fit.

Impressive Superzoom!

After having "super zooms" in the years past, I found them to be convenient for not having to change lenses, but lacking in image quality. Fast forward to now, I read good reviews on this lens, so I thought I'd give a superzoom another try. Was not disappointed! Image quality is far better than any I have had in the past... Not perfect at 300mm, but compared to years ago, this one is light years ahead in image quality! Plus the vibration control is superb! I have had a stroke, and my steadiness in my hands and arms is now gone. I find I can hand hold this lens / body combo (no IBIS in body) at 300mm and shoot at 1/60th of a second and get good results! Well worth the praise given to it by online reviewers!

Tamron 18-300

Tamron 18-300 E-mount I need a super zoom for my Sony A6600. For me, the situation where I shoot is very fluid and can change in a heartbeat, and sometimes there is no time to change from the Sony 18-200 to my Sony 70-350. With this new lens, the only lens that I need to carry is my 10-18 wide angle zoom. However, I am not getting rid of 70-350 because there will situation where I will need every millimeter and I like the photos from this lens.

This is an excellent lens with great reach and surprisingly good image quality for the price. The image stabilization is also quite good.

Not a true wide angle.

I had have a chance to use it for a while and I like it for zooming and as far as wide angle, it isn't a true wide angle. Because when I shoot the Horse Shoe bend with it I was having a hard time getting all of it. When I switch to my Sony wide angle wow!! I got all of it. This is how I know by comparing head to head with the wide angle lense. I'm just a novice so maybe I don't know how to use it ?

A versatile though not perfect lens.

The best thing about the lens is its versatility. It's build quality is pretty good, though not as good as the Fuji 16-80 it's replacing for me. There is a bit more purple fringing than I would like, especially at the telephoto end of things. The close focusing ability is fun to play with, especially at really wide focal lengths. The optical image stabilization is OK for photos, but not good enough for video, even with IBIS (X-S10).

Okay-But not Fuji Handling Quality

Optical quality good but falls short of Fuji 55-200 and 100-400 in operations. Stiff zoom and focus ring easily moved while holding in making photos. Just not a comfortable lens to use as compared to the Fuji lens. Returning lens and hoping for Fuji 70-300 to become available soon.

Almost a keeper

I loved everything about this lens ? except the image quality. I read and watched a lot of reviews, and was extremely hopeful. I?m not a pixel-peeping perfectionist, but I do have standards for an image. It doesn?t have to be perfect and razor sharp SOOC, but I need enough to work with the bring it to my baseline - and it just never delivered for me. I think it?s great as a consumer camera, but doesn?t make it even as a ?prosumer? for me. Again, others may love it for its range, build quality, etc. And the image quality may be ?good enough? for many. Would I recommend this? Enthusiastically for consumers. With reservation for prosumers. Not for professionals.

Good bang for the bucks.

I bought this with the X mount to use with the Fuji X-H1. I wanted a longer reach than I have with the Fuji 18-135mm. On first use, sharpness is great thru the entire range, especially being hand held only. Auto focus is quick and accurate. Manual focus at 200-300mm is a bit of work. It is a little heavier than the 18-135mm. Im just a hobby photographer so this lens works well for my needs.

Great universal lenses

I bought it to replace Fuji 50-200mm. Comparing to that lenses, Tamron doesn' have so quick autoocus and it's not so sharp on the edges. However it's good quality and allows to take good photos. What's most important for me, I don't have to change my lenses so often. Now it's my "default" and very often the only lenses I take with me on hike.

Excellent travel and general purpose lens

I bought this lens to match Sony A7R4 camera. The central quality is very good. It won't produce tack sharp images at focal lengths longer than 100mm. The corner images are soft at wide open apertures. The corner becomes sharp when stepping down to between f11 and f13. The focus is very snappy for the most time. At 300mm, the lens occasionally hunts for scenes with low contrast. For the money's worth, I'm very satisfied with the purchase.

Superb Lens and fantastic company to work with!

This is a great lens. I tested one before deciding to purchase one. So far it has been great. Multipurpose, not too heavy or long, great everyday lens for me.

No auto aperture?

Using X-T2: The zoom is overly tight between 70mm and 200mm. Some say it will loosen up. There is no aperture ring so it is set in camera. I have not figured out if it is possible to use auto aperture. I could not find a manual for this lens on the Tamron website. The lens sometimes makes clicking sounds for which I am still trying to figure out the exact cause. I hope to get some answers. I bought this lens for the zoom range. This is cheaper and easier than carrying two cameras and multiple lenses. The pictures look good.

Approved by Goldilocks and the Three Bears

For much of my "walk around" and vacation photography, I have relied mostly on a Tamron 18-400 lens attached to a Nikon D7200 DSLR. It seems to be the perfect compromise between the versatility of a bridge camera, and a large sensor SLR with a prime or short zoom lens. There have been times, when I wanted something a little lighter. In the week I have had the 18-300/Sony Alpha 3000, it seems to fit that bill perfectly and hits the right balance between portability, versatility and image quality. Just a couple of Caveats; If you do flash photography, the lens will cast a shadow unless you mount an external flash. I also suspect that if you one of the smaller Sony bodies without viewfinders, you might find this lens to be a bit heavy and unbalanced.

So far so good. The. Front of the lens attracts a lot of dust. Other than that feels good on a A6600.

Good walking around lens

Very versatile lens, it is my go to for everyday use because of the huge range. Pro's are a solid build, giant zoom range. Cons are the weight and a bit of slow focus at full zoom. Overall a good deal for the money for folks who don't want to carry 2-3 lenses covering the same range. But it's sacrifices some shoot quality over it's smaller individual counterparts.

If you only want one lens to carry around for APS-C E-mount get this one

If you only want to carry around one lens get this one! I've used the lens paired with a A6000 for a few weeks and it's very versatile, the telephoto comes in handy for zooming in on subjects far away for wildlife. Nice being able to only carry around this lens when traveling and or on walks. The zoom ring was a bit stiff at first but is now smooth after using it for a while. Good quality and takes good enough photos for my use.
