I love coming across a lens that checks all the boxes: the Tamron 20mm is compact, lightweight, produces excellent image quality, and is inexpensive. Pay attention, Sony! Specifically, the Tamron 20mm renders sharp edges on lettering and other straight lines, colors are true and, unlike other Sony lenses, do not need an added boost. Brightness and contrast are also true. Barrel distortion is mostly absent, but of course you can force it if desired. There is good dynamic range for pulling details out of shadows. Close-ups ? as close as 4 inches! This lens will save some people the cost of a macro lens. Night shots are similarly good. Some single light points produce pleasing starbursts, but larger or complex lights smear out in a way I find unpleasant. I recommend this lens.

I'm using this lens on a Sony A7R II and A7R IV and it works fine for landscapes using AF and manual focus for time exposure shots (selecting the manual mode inside the camera since there is no switch on the lens) both producing very good images. If your shooting still photos the lens makes some noise when auto-focusing but locks on very quickly without any hunting when photographing stationary scenes. The lens functions a lot like my older style Nikkor 20mm AF-D 2.8 lens, but is not as rugged, and makes a similar sound when focusing. Lots of people are complaining about auto focusing and the associated noise of this lens, but they are shooting videos, usually of moving subjects, and this lens does make some noise that is picked up by the recording camera when filming action scenes. But, for landscape, time exposure, and Milky Way photos it performs just as needed for my requirements.

I love this inexpensive lens for those times I want to go wide. I ordered this lens to replace on that was stolen at a shoot.

Great lens to have with Sony A7iii for this price. It's light, sharp, pretty fast auto focus and surprisingly not much distortion on close objects.

The lens was on sale, so I grabbed it. I wanted a wide angle prime to shoot some fashion editorials. I wanted to keep within a certain budget too. I have some of the Tamron lenses for Sony E-mounts and they work well, so I dived right in. The focus is a little slow, but it works. The lens is sharp and I am happy with the quality. Its a lens to have in your bag of tricks, the price makes it work.

Not a bad lens for the price. It’s definitely sluggish in the focusing department. I don’t particularly mind that aspect of it, but some might. Haven’t had the chance to test it in poor weather yet. I’ve gotten some good astro shots with this, and for the price, I’m a happy camper.

Tjis lens is pretty good for the price. I do wish it was wider like f/1.8. Overall it seems sharp and clean. You really can't go wrong with this lend. The sale price is on point. The bundle was a good add on with the purchase. I would recommend this lens to everyone.

I’m pleasantly surprised. I pre-ordered this as I needed an ultra wide lens and figured for the price it was hard to go wrong. It’s actually quite sharp and renders nicely. Focus isn’t perfect, but it’s better than any adapted lens I’ve used on the Sony format. Yes, if using this for video the focus motor is a bit loud. I primarily shoot stills so I don’t have that concern. The coma is fairly well controlled and not at all noticeable unless extreme pixel peeping. I wish it was an f/2, but it’s way better than an f4. I think it’s a great bargain and really a nice performer.

Large Aperture, Prime Lenses for Sony E-Mount Cameras are Extremely Compact and Lightweight With a Filter Diameter of 67mm and 1:2 Macro Capability
Developed under the concept of "letting as many as possible learn the joy of prime lenses in a more accessible way," each lens strikes a balance between gorgeous image rendering and superior operation. We matched the same filter size (67mm) for all three prime lenses as well as the two previously launched zooms and achieved our aim of compactness. Furthermore, the 20mm, 24mm and 35mm lenses are all capable of focusing very close, to an unprecedented in this category magnification ratio of 1:2. Other features include Moisture-Resistant Construction (for outdoor shooting) and a Fluorine Coating on the front element for easy maintenance and fingerprint removal. They also support various camera features offered by certain Sony cameras, such as Fast Hybrid AF and Eye AF, and offer a multitude of advanced functions to ensure a pleasant shooting experience and fantastic results.
