Great Lens!
First let me state that I rented this lens before I purchased it. It was an amazing lens so I saved up my pennies and got a copy. The light transmission on it is amazing. I was using the Canon 24-105L f4 lens. Not only does this blow it away in sharpness it lets in so much more light. When both lens' were set to f4 and on aperture priority the camera always chose a faster shutter for this over the Canon. An amazing lens
I wanted a PRO-level upgrade from my Nikon 24-85 VR (a very good lens in its own right) and the 24-70 Tamron G2 seemed like the most affordable option. The lens arrived from Adorama this week and it is clear that Tamron has created a real winner in this competitive field. The use of specialized, high quality glass materials that offer greater optical transmittance are used in the TAMRON 24-70mm lens to ensure superior color reproduction and even greater sharpness. The lens utilizes 17 glass elements in 12 groups, including 2 XR (Extra Refractive Index) glass elements to counteract optical aberrations; 3 LD (Low Dispersion) elements to minimize axial chromatic aberrations that can occur in the telephoto range, as well as transverse chromatic aberrations that can be an issue with wide-angle; 3 GM (glass-molded aspherical) elements; and 1 hybrid aspherical lens element that effectively neutralizes spherical aberrations and distortions to create superior image quality. Thanks to a combination of these special glass materials, the lens achieves previously unseen levels of accurate color reproduction and depictive performance.

The TAMRON SP 24-70mm F/2.8 Di VC USD G2 features a new control system that uses two high-performance MPUs (micro-processing units). The TAMRON 24-70mm lens is equipped with its own MPU (micro-processor unit), with embedded DSP (digital signal processing) blocks that enable high-speed digital signal processing, achieving both excellent responsiveness to signals from the camera and high-precision AF performance. The result is quicker, more precise AF performance and more consistently powerful VC (Vibration Compensation) with its own dedicated MPU.
The highest vibration compensation (VC) levels in its class
The VC (Vibration Compensation) image stabilizer of the TAMRON 24-70mm lens, like its autofocus, is managed by a Dual Micro processing Unit system. This system employs two high-performance microprocessor units (MPUs). Additionally, a new algorithm has been implemented to further enhance the control and signal processing of the VC system. The VC system offers up to 5-stops of stabilization, making it exceptionally suitable for hand-held shots, even in low-light conditions.
eBAND Coating dramatically curbs ghosting and flare
The 24-70mm F2.8 G2 features TAMRON s original eBAND (Extended Bandwidth & Angular-Dependency) Coating, a technology that combines an extremely-low-refractive-index nano-structured layer with conventional multiple-layer coating techniques to provide superior anti-reflection performance. The optimal application of this eBAND Coating in combination with TAMRON s BBAR (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) Coating successfully and substantially curbs the ghosting and flare that can occur when photographing backlit subjects.

Circular Aperture
A 9-blade diaphragm is configured to retain a smooth, circular-shaped aperture opening even when stopped down by two stops from the wide-open aperture. This produces a smooth-edged bokeh in background highlights.
TAMRON TAP-in Console
The optional TAP-in Console provides a USB connection to your personal computer, enabling you to easily update your lens s firmware as well as customize features including fine adjustments to the AF and VC.
Zoom Lock Switch
The 24-70mm F2.8 VC G2 has a switch that can lock the zoom ring at the 24mm focal length if desired. This prevents the unwanted extension of the lens barrel due to the weight of the lens during transportation.
Moisture-Resistant Construction
For greater protection when shooting outdoors, leak-resistant seals throughout the lens barrel help protect your equipment.
Fluorine Coating
The front surface of the lens element is coated with a protective fluorine compound that is water- and oil-repellent. The lens surface is easier to wipe clean and is less vulnerable to the damaging effects of dirt, dust, moisture and fingerprints.
