It?s a great little lens that I haven?t used more than a few times. The price is kinda high but if want a new lens you are going to pay for it.

So far so good. Crisp sharp photos! A little noisy autofocus. I am very happy with my purchase can't wait to see how it handles fast pace sports.

This is my second Tamron SP 28-75. It is my primary portrait lens and I literally wore my first one out after 15 years of use. Can’t go wrong with this lens.

I love this lens. It has been my go to for many years, although not that durable, I have gone through 3 fyi, they are crazy sharp! And they work great, rarely have I misses a focus point. And for a 2.8 lens they are suoer light.

I've been trading out all my Canon bodies and L lenses and switching to Sony. I put this lens on my a9 and a7ii for fun to see if it still worked ok before I got rid of it. I've had the original version for many years and it has Macro as well. To my surprise, it worked great on my MC-11 converter I had for my Canon lenses. I have to admit, testing it at the different focal lengths it was spot on, and razor sharp still. I was switching between my e mount Sony Zeiss 24-70 f4 and it was just as sharp if not better. I was blown away that it still performed so well. I've always carried it in my bag as a back-up for my L lenses and now don't know why I never used it. The lens even auto focuses with the MC-11 better than all my L lenses. Needless to say I will be keeping this lens now. If this new version is as good as my old copy, you won't be disappointed. The old one however does have Macro, another reason for keeping it. The Tamron was almost half the price as the Sony Zeiss, but just as good if not better.

Great concept overall. But I needed this for weddings and it can barely focus in low lighting and has a LOT of noise. Doesn’t compare to my Nikon lenses in low light.

The lens has issues with focusing. The Autofocus isn’t accurate. It jumps even though your viewfinder is targeting that specific area or subject. We have one already and I thought it was user error until I purchased one. And it needs image stabilization for clarity. It has often produced a slight blur.

Sharp, Accurate focusing and well built. This lens has (now discontinued) replaced one stolen and Adorama had a new one advertised. Picked it up immediately. It works as expected, for which I am grateful.

This lens was recommended by one of my professional colleagues. It is a good value and gave me the zoom range I wanted. Great options so I do not continually need to be swapping lens when I take vacations. Nice all around lens.

Great affordable standard zoom. Wish it had image stabilization but concidering it's a zoom at 2.8 it's a great everyday lens. I have it mounted on a canon 6D. The focal length is wierd on a crop camera. My opinion on its weakness A little loud but still pretty quick at focusing Contrast is not super punchy when compared to my canon 70-200mm f2.8 but still very nice. All in all get one and use the heck out of it.

Since I received this lens I have used it for most of my event work replacing my Monalta 28-85 MM 3.5-5.6 lens. I find the sharpness and color saturation to be above what I expected.

Autofocus very slow in low light when shooting live concert photography. Lens cover twist off to easy, isn't to sturdy. I highly recommend you save up and purchase the 24-70 from Tamron it's a way better lens.

For the money, you can't beat this lens. I am using it on the full frame K-1 and image quality is crystal clear even at f2.8 with some magnification. The only drawbacks I can find to the lens are it feels a little light in weight which makes me question how durable the lens may be with heavy use and it does not have it's own focus motor in the Pentax mount. The lens does produce very good quality photos at a very attractive price. I would recommend this lens to anyone that is looking for quality at a budget price.

This focal range is actually an useful length for general walk around shooting and combined with the constant 2.8, makes for some nice portraits when in the middle of your photo hunt. It's not super wide, and closes in well for a nice portrait. F/2.8 is not super fast, but it's nice when at 75mm you can still have a open aperture. Also, it's not that heavy considering it's a constant aperture. I'm very glad I traded in my Pentax 18-135mm f/3.5-5 lens for this.

I have most used this lens for indoor and outdoor activities with groups of children and youth. It is very sharp, handles well, and excellent for use without a flash. So far I don't have anything I don't like about it.

Build and design features are very good. Has a lens creep lock. Image quality in well lighted environments is good. Low light environments are problematic, it produces significant noise. Since I shoot news, I prefer candid shots and don't want to distract the people I'm photographing with a flash. I returned it because of the noise issue.

I use this lens to photograph high school sports. It is fast enough and does a decent job. The pictures are not super sharp but for the price you aren't going to get super sharp. It is a relatively inexpensive glass and the pictures reflect that. If you want the super sharp photos you can spend 4 times as much for the L quality lens. For the price it is a decent lens.

I used this lens on several photo shoots before finding out that it wasn't in focus. I finally did some test shots and confirmed that it doesnt focus properly, or is just very soft. I managed to save enough of the photos to not have to reshoot the photos...luckily it wasn't a wedding. I did end up not getting photos at a concert, which luckily I wasnt getting paid for. I sent the lens back and I am expecting a new lens. Hopefully this one doesnt have the same issues. I will edit this review once I have received the new lens.

I initially purchased a used copy of this lens, and was blown away with its performance. Very sharp in the center, acceptable sharp in the corners, and very nice bokeh. I did a wedding and was sold, my images were so much better than previous. The focal range on my DX body is excellent for me. Like others have said, 28mm is not very wide on a DX. I seldom hit this limit, but find I'm regularly zoomed to 75mm. So I guess my working range is on the long end most of the time anyhow. However I did notice that a higher than normal percentage of my shots were soft. I did some testing and noticed that it tended to front focus on my D90 body. So I returned it and purchased a new copy from Adorama. This copy is just as good, but having no front/back focus issues. Still, it does tend to mis-focus regularly. I guess that's what other reviews have said as well, it doesn't focus as accurately as the Nikon. My results showed that it can focus fast and accurate, but not consistently. I was ready to give up on it, but then decided to do another round of tests using AF-C instead of AF-S. This was the key for me. In this mode, it rarely misses focus. On AF-S, you can focus and lock, then repeat and it will adjust a tiny bit and lock again. If it were accurate it would not move after initial lock. It's like it's not satisfied and keeps trying to adjust. On AF-C it never locks but quickly settles and stays put. I normally only use AF-C for sports, so it will take some getting used to, but I think it will be worth it.

Reliable focus in a bright shrp lens
By TOM C.
I got this because I really wanted a bright zoom in this range for portait and general photography. The Sigma and Nikon equivalents were out of my price range. My one worry when I ordered it was that some folks have had trouble with the focusing on this lens. So the first thing I did on getting it was take it to shoot my son and his friend playing a gig at a local bar. There were no stage lights there, and it was so dark that I had to crank my D5000 up to ISO 6400. Even shooting at f/2.8 at t...

Fantastic portrait lens
By JAMES L.
Great lens. Absolutely my favorite for taking portrait photo's in a studio setting using shoot thru umbrellas. The results are always crystal clear and no distortion. The price is very reasonable for the quality you get.
