Very sharp images, beautiful bokeh. Good image stabilization which improves low light performance. I bought this after being very impressed with the super light Tamron 17-35 f2.8-4, which is also great. You just need to be ok starting at 35mm. Otherwise, this is a great walk around lens that gives much better results than the Nikon 24-120 on my D750.

I want to thank Tamron for "thinking out side of the box". This is a very unusual focal length range, but it works extremely well. Pair this lens with a super wide lens ( I am using my Nikon Z 14-30mm f/4) and you can do just about anything with it. It is extremely sharp (corner to corner) at all focal lengths. And the VC is very responsive. I am giving it 5 stars not just because of the sharpness of the lens and the effectiveness of the VC, but because of how versatile it is. It completely replaces the typical 24-70 and 70-200 lens. Please note that with today's high resolution cameras you can do a digital crop in post processing and increase the effective focal length to 300mm and still have enough resolution to print up to 20" prints. And this lens works well on my Nikon Z7 camera using the FTZ adaptor.

The lens super clear and extremely flexible. At 35 mm it is super fast with a f2.8 aperture and works great in low light situations. its a great walk around lens and has some advantages over a 24-70mm f2.8. Its cheaper and provides longer zoom without compromising on quality of pictures.

I fell in love with this lens, but not in the very beginning. It took a few days for me to get used to the Zoom direction, which is the opposite of most, if not all Canon lenses. However, I quickly overcame this and now I use this lens about 80-90% of the time, on everything that I shoot! Sharp and Amazing!

I love the new Tamron 35-150mm f/2.7-4 Di Vc OSD lens for my Nikon D850. I have been looking for a mid range zoom lens to add to my inventory and this lens falls perfect. I have taken her out for a shoot and really like the sharpness and color saturation. This is going to be my primary shooting lens. I really like all of my Tamron lens.

I'm withholding a star just because there are some things about the other glowing reviews that I don't agree with, but honestly for what this costs and what you get, it's allowed to have some flaws without being downgraded. As others have said, this lens is sharp. I got better things to do than shoot test charts, but I've had this lens for a few days and have shot one event and some street photography throughout the entire focal length range of this lens. I can't identify a focal range that I was unhappy with. Something in this price range has no business being this sharp throughout. The weight of the lens is very well balanced so it doesn't feel heavy even though it's not exactly a light lens. It doesn't have the super premium feel of pricer counterparts, but it still feels every bit like a high quality lens. The super premium feel is overrated anyway. The Nikkor 24-120 I'd compare this to feels cheap, but has taken its licks and it still ticks. I purchased this to supplant my Nikkor 24-120 as my walkaround lens. The image quality is superior in every way without question, but there is one way in which the beleaguered Nikkor 24-120 outshines this. I have yet to find a lens that has that lens' AF speed and confidence in focusing on low contrast objects. One of the notable weaknesses of the Tamron 35-150 is its hesitant autofocus. It's fast enough that you won't notice anything amiss when shooting well lit places with high contrast objects to focus on, but it easily gets confused on low contrast objects. It tends to hunt, going all the way to the end in the wrong direction before coasting all the way back until it acquires focus after two full passes through the focus dial. That's about it for the things I don't like. This wasn't intended for use as a sports lens so I can forgive it for have mediocre autofocus. It's intended to be the ultimate affordable portrait lens and it certainly appears to be superbly suited for that.

Pros : Great focal length, Affordable price, very sharp wide open at all FL, small and light(compare to other zoom lenses in same level), 77mm filter(popular size), well built, vibration compensation, autofocus was quick and silent .. CONs : Zoom ring rotates opposite the Canon direction. AF motor spins the focus ring in operation

I have owned a number of Tamron lenses over the years but this one is the first one I've owned that I really liked. This lens is well made and while it's a little heavy it is very well balanced. It feels fine on my 5D3 and even on my RP. (And I bought this lens for my RP.) Color reproduction is great, focus speed is excellent and the 35 to 150mm range is just what I needed. As a head shot photographer this lens gets me exactly the focal lengths I want. This lens is also a great walk around lens. I highly recommend this lens. Thanks Tamron!

I pre-ordered this as soon as it was announced. I do a lot of product shooting and indoor event shooting and it's always a struggle to switch over from the 24-70mm to the 70-200 if I need more reach. With this lens I am covered. If gives up a little at the long end at f/4, but I am rarely shooting wide open anyway. I've only had it a couple or weeks, but I am quite pleased with the IQ, the quiet and fast AF. It's a little bigger than I though, about the size of Tamron's 24-70 f/2.8 and about the same weight. Though this does extend a fair bit on zoom. Still pretty manageable even in crowded areas.

Introducing the Tamron 35-150mm f/2.8-4 Di VC OSD, Tamron’s new zoom lens dedicated to shooting portraits. The new Tamron lens features a compact and lightweight design, measuring 124.3mm long and weighing only 790g. It has a flexible zoom characterized by its bright f/2.8-4 maximum aperture range and 4.3x zoom ratio. It has Tamron’s patented Broad-Band Anti-Reflection (BBAR) Coating, which reduces the ghosting and flare that often happens during backlight portrait shoots. It also features an Optimized Silent Drive (OSD) AF motor for quiet yet fast-focusing and a Vibration Compensation system that minimizes the appearance of camera shake for sharper handheld shooting that is vital in low-light scenarios. The new Tamron 35-1500mm lens comes in an EF-mount for full-frame Canon cameras or an F-mount for FX-format Nikon cameras. Have better options when shooting portraits with the new 35-150mm Di VC OSD Lens from Tamron.
High quality, flexibility and broad creative expression
For the first time, a dedicated portrait lens that allows you to zoom through various composition options as the creative ideas zoom through your head. The 35-150mm F/2.8-4 Di VC OSD (Model A043) zoom lens is based on the new concept of allowing you to concentrate on a wide range of portrait compositions without the interruption of pausing to change lenses. The fast F-stop offers F/2.8 at the wide end while maintaining a bright F/4 at the telephoto end.
The compact Model A043 is designed for easy carrying, measuring only 124.3mm (4.9 in) long and weighing just 790g (27.9 oz). For fast and steady operation, this exciting zoom incorporates Tamron's Dual MPU (Micro-Processing Unit) system, which strikes the perfect balance between AF performance and effective vibration compensation. Additionally, optical performance tuned to accentuate the finest qualities of the subject combines clear image quality and soft bokeh defocus blur at the highest level.
For greater flexibility when used outdoors, Moisture-Resistant Construction and a Fluorine Coating deliver extra measures of protection. Also, the BBAR (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) Coating effectively reduces ghosting and flare as well. High quality, flexibility and broad creative expression you can have them all with Tamron's new portrait zoom lens.
The 35-150mm F/2.8-4 extends photographic expression in unprecedented fashion
Express your creativity as a portrait photographer by pursuing every dimension from dramatic close-up expressions to delicate movements. We want you to enjoy portrait shooting as you intend, and that is the sentiment we poured into this lens. The Model A043 offers a zoom ratio of nearly 4.3x, with focal lengths ranging from 35mm at the wide end to 150mm at the telephoto end. And if a more structured approach better suits you, you'll find scale markers that indicate the popular focal length settings for portrait photography (ref. right animation). The versatile zoom range incorporates the 85mm focal length (often regarded as optimum for portrait shooting) and covers everything from full-body shots that include the surrounding area to sharp head-and-shoulders shots. With this single lens you can make the most of every moment you spend with any subject.
The balance between high resolution and brilliant bokeh accentuates any subject
The Model A043 features a specialized optical formula that employs three LD (Low Dispersion) and three hybrid aspherical lens elements to thoroughly control optical aberrations. Tamron's proprietary anti-reflecting BBAR Coating significantly reduces ghosting and flare that might otherwise occur under backlight conditions, where portraits are often shot. The result provides the advanced levels of sharpness and contrast that today's high resolution 50+ megapixel DSLRs require. Tamron has also balanced MTF performance to produce exceptional resolving power across the entire zoom range and deliver premium optical performance. Furthermore, Tamron has combined its many years of expertise in producing soft, beautiful bokeh defocus blur with the latest simulation technologies. As a result, the contrast between in-focus areas rendered accurately down to the fine details and backgrounds that gently blend into the scene produces a single high quality image. Enjoy this excellent, inspired performance for portraits, landscapes, travel, family snapshots and more across a wide range of photography subjects
Outstanding AF performance and vibration compensation for crisp, sharp images
The Model A043 includes Tamron's exclusive Dual MPU system: a dedicated micro-processing unit for vibration compensation, and separate microprocessor for lens system control, including AF. Each MPU has a DSP (Digital Signal Processing) block for high speed signal processing that combines reliable vibration compensation with exceptional AF performance. The result effectively reduces focus deviations and camera shake and is especially valuable in low-light conditions.
AF with Optimized Silent Drive quietly tracks constantly moving subjects with ease
The AF drive employs a newly developed OSD (Optimized Silent Drive) to ensure silent operation. Operating noise has been appreciably reduced thanks to a revamped and optimized AF unit.
Photographers and subjects can converse and enjoy the mood of the moment while devoting their efforts to portrait shooting without noisy intermittent distractions. Also, the precision and speed of autofocusing are increased to ensure accurate focus even when tracking constantly moving subjects.
VC (Vibration Compensation) counteracts camera shake and expands opportunities
The Model A043 is equipped with Tamron's legendary VC that achieves compensation equivalent to 5 stops* (CIPA standards) to effectively reduce the effects of camera shake. This is particularly beneficial when shooting at the shake-prone telephoto end and when shooting at slower shutter speeds. VC ensures that subjects will be faithfully captured down to the fine details even when shooting in low-light environments, such as twilight or indoors, without flash.
MOD of 0.45m (17.7 in) adds close-up composition to your zoom repertoire
Focal length: 150mm Exposure: F/4 1/40sec ISO 100 In addition to a wide range of focal lengths, the Model A043 provides an MOD of 0.45m (17.7 in) across the entire zoom range. This allows you to approach the subject close-up even when shooting at the telephoto end, which adds new possibilities to portrait composition. By varying the distance between you and the subject, you can intensify close communication with the subject, a crucial aspect of portrait photography. Even when shooting indoors where movement is restricted, you will be able to find just the right shooting position and angle. Experience the rich variation in the world of close-up photography of eyes, skin texture and other points of focus that becomes possible as you move nearer to the subject.
Circular Aperture to Produce a Smooth-Edged Bokeh
A 9-blade diaphragm is configured to retain a smooth, circular-shaped aperture opening even when stopped down by two stops from the wide-open aperture. This produces a smooth-edged bokeh in background light spots and avoids rugged aperture geometry
Fluorine Coating for protection and safe cleaning
The front surface of the lens element is coated with a protective fluorine compound that is water- and oil-repellant. The lens surface is easier to wipe clean and is less vulnerable to the damaging effects of dirt, dust, moisture and fingerprints.
Electromagnetic diaphragm system compatible with Nikon cameras
An electromagnetic diaphragm system, which has been a standard feature for Canon-mount lenses, is employed in Nikon-mount lenses. More precise diaphragm and aperture control is possible because the diaphragm blades are driven and controlled by a motor through electronic pulse signals.
Moisture-Resistant Construction protects your lens
For greater protection when shooting outdoors, leak-resistant seals throughout the lens barrel help protect your equipment
Compatible with the TAMRON TAP-in Console
Optional compatibility with the Tamron's TAP-in Console (Model TAP-01) lets you easily update firmware and customize the lens by making fine adjustments to AF focusing positions, VC control, and more.
