Is this any serious problem with this lens before I purchase it

Great lens

I honestly love this thing. Versatile, solid image quality and weather sealed...and at a relatively low price.

A Winner for Tamron

This lens is tack sharp throughout its entire zoom range. I will note that with 20 elements in 14 groups it is too heavy to be your everyday walk around lens but I knew that before I bought it so this is not a complaint, just information for those contemplating purchase. The included tripod collar is another plus. I also appreciate the constant f/4.0 maximum aperture throughout the entire zoom range.

Take my money

Works amazing for air show photography. Pictures are just as clear and sharp as a 2.8 but the lense is much lighter allowing for longer handheld shooting

A great lens

It is a surprisingly versatile and affordable lens. It takes great pictures. I have use it for sporting events and kids graduation. It is not too heavy, but after few hours of holding it in your hands when taking a video it does feel a little heavy.

Great lens for the price

Overall, very pleased with this purchase. Autofocus is good and performs as expected for a lens in this price range. If you need super fast focus, keep looking. Image quality is above expectations.

Quality Service

Incredible lens, I ordered it online and it was available for pick up the same day I left work and picked it up and immediately put it to work the images were just outstanding and the design is impressive. The body is well designed and very intuitive the looks it gets you are awesome. I enjoy the focal range and just sharpness and the constant f4 aperture is just remarkable. I would recommend this lens to anyone looking to get high end images and not wanting to break the bank. I picked this beauty up for 400 bucks it was originally offered at 800 which is still well below the other options on the market

Don't miss this great deal.

They must be closing out this gem of a lens. $399 for lens, collar and memory card is too good to pass up. I'm using this with the D610 and D7500, and the image quality is excellent. It also focuses pretty fast and accurately without having done any adjustments. Recommended.

Average third party lens.

Using this lens on my Canon RP with adapter. The lens is well built and is pretty long. The zoom ring is at the front of the lens which is not ideal but does rotate smoothly. Focus is not that fast but acceptable and accurate. The best quality of the lens is the smooth bokeh. This is not an ideal travel lens because of its size. I purchased this because it was the deal of the day and included the tripod cooler and 64gb card.

FTZ heads up

Out of the box this lens did not work with my FTZ adapter for Z mount cameras. Tamron's website notes that a firmware update will allow the camera to function. My local camera shop had the required "tap-in" accessory and updated the lens firmware. Please note that you may need to do a little extra legwork to get this lens working with the FTZ adapter.

Fun Lense and great for the price.

Super Clear Lense. This has been great in daylight and even mild low light. I have used this for Air show photography as well as bird photography and had great results.

Solid lens at a great price, but beware Z system users

It’s a pretty good lens, and an unbeatable value at the current price. It’s not uniformly sharp wide open, but it sharpens up nicely at f/5.6. The center is very good at all apertures and focal lengths. The AF is smooth and precise, really very nice, but the VC is kinda loud when it starts (does so with a ‘clunk’) even though it’s pretty effective. The only thing I’d keep in mind is, if you’re a Nikon Z system user, you’ll need the TAP-IN Console from Tamron, because the lens doesn’t come with the latest firmware, and it’s completely unusable before it on the Z6 and Z7. So I’d recommend to order both the lens and the console straight away, or look into sending the lens to Tamron for a FW update.

Quality option for those on a budget.

I have had this lens for about 2 weeks using it occasionally. This is my second Tamron lens that I have in my gear bag. I wanted the 70-200mm f2.8 but could not justify the cost. I decided to try this lens trusting that losing a stop of light would not make much of a difference. I like the build quality along with the weight being lighter than 70-200mm. The focus and zoom lens are opposite from my Nikon lenses but I knew that when I purchase it. I'm confident with more practice this will not be an issue. I attached a few images for your review.

Great quality, good deal.

I decided to upgrade my zoom for Christmas and was pleasantly surprised with the build quality and autofocus speed on this lens. (At least it’s impressive for this amateur photographer.) I’m also thrilled with the inclusion of the tripod mount ring. What a deal!

Impressive quality images on a budget. But the best thing is how light it is and that can zoom to 210mm

Great alternative to the 70-200 2.8 Tamron

Had to sell my Tamron 70-200 2.8 because they were not going to update the firmware to make it work with my new Nikon Z6. After researching, I decided to go with this model. So far with the Z6, it has been great. Handled Friday night football pictures great meshed with the full frame sensor of the Z6. I had been using my D7000 with the 2.8 but it couldn't handle the night time even with the lights. The high ISO capability along with this lens is a perfect combination. Would the 2.8 be better? Probably. I just know that at F4, this lens seems to be sharp and I'm really happy with it. Remember, in order to use this lens with the Z6, you must update the firmware. I had to order Tamron's Tap-in-Console that updated the firmware to 2.0 to make it work. It also is used to make any fine adjustments to this lens if needed which I don't see any need to at this point.

Best alternative for Canon lens

This lens is far more than I expected. The build quality equals similar pro lenses from Canon for half the price. The optical quality is substantially better.

Great lens for the price

This is an outstanding option for a person who wants a lens that can produce images close to the low light quality of the 70-200 f2.8, but cannot afford the price. Is the 70-200 f2.8 G2 better? Yes, but for the size, price, and focal length of this lens, it is an outstanding alternative. I recently shot a softball game with the old 70-200 f2.8, then shot another game later in the week with this lens and I was MUCH happier with the quality of the images from this lens than the other. The autofocus on this lens is snappy and accurate. With the VC turned on, it performs admirably in low light scenarios and renders beautiful colors both indoor and outdoor alike. I use my lens paired with a Nikon D750 and it does a fantastic job. I shoot family portraits and youth sports frequently and I trust the capability of this lens. The quality/price combo of the 70-210 f4 simply cannot be beaten.

Good for travel

I liked the lens in daylight outdoors for its picture quality and weight but on the D850 it wasnt very good in low light. So I returned it and got the 70-200 f2.8 G2. The sharpness at f4 was not great but at f8 and up, it was very sharp.

Very nice lens

Very nice well made lens. Love the size and weight of this lens. I find myself using it a lot more than the 70-200 f2.8 G2 because its a lot nicer to carry. If you need the very best image quality the 2.8 is probably just bit better.

A product worth considering

If you are looking for an affordable lens in this category having good sharpness, you should look at this lens. I was skeptical about going with non-Nikkor brands but this came out well. The focus ring is at the front and it's nice and smooth. The only thing I would mention is you may need to calibrate it on your body. I had to with my d500 but after that it's sharp.

Good for the price

Sharp. Loses focus sometimes but I haven't calibrated to my camera so not sure if that would help.. one annoying thing the af and vc sometimes gets bumped when in portait.

You will also enjoy ultra-soft “bokeh” when shooting up close. Lightweight and compact, this telephoto zoom is ideal for travel. Now you can go lightweight while greatly expanding your shooting possibilities.

Discover The Beauty Of Close-Up Shooting.

Excellent AF & Reliable VC (Vibration Compensation) Performance.

The A034 lens includes Tamron’s Dual MPU system: a dedicated MPU (micro-processing unit) for vibration compensation and another for lens system control, including AF. Each MPU has a DSP (Digital Signal Processing) block for high signal processing that balances reliable vibration compensation with exceptional AF performance. Tamron’s proprietary VC image stabilization features 4-stops. The USD (Ultrasonic Silent Dive) ring-type motor provides excellent response and control for advanced high-speed focusing. Additionally, a full-time manual focus override lets you make fine manual adjustments without having to switch focus modes.

Excellent AF & Reliable VC (Vibration Compensation) Performance.

Internal Zoom Combines Reliability With Stability.

An internal zoom mechanism maintains your center of gravity while shooting for more stable performance. Combined with Moisture-Resistant Construction, the internal zoom creates a more comfortable all-around shooting experience. Also, since the total length of the barrel never changes while zooming, you can easily shoot through obstructions such as a wire fence at a zoo.
