Review Summary

I purchased this filter after seeing great reviews for it on Youtube, it was consistently rated better than the more expensive filters, it was not until after the purchase that I noted in a couple of reviews that these filters although excellent are somewhat fragile, in one review it was recommended that the filter only be used in studio settings. I am still happy with the purchase, I am a still photographer that uses these filters in landscape photography often in somewhat harsh environments, mountain streams and waterfalls. Because I use this with Canon wide angle lenses I had purchased 105mm filters to go on lenses with 77mm filter threads using a step up ring to avoid vignetting, to solve the fragility problem I purchased somewhat inexpensive 105mm UV filters to protect the ND filters from the elements, I also purchased lens caps because Sigma makes a great lens cap for about $10 that fits the filters perfectly. I use a rear UV filter to further protect when not in use.

Take your cinematography and photography to the next level with the 105mm Cinema PRO IRND 2.1 Filter - 7 Stops, a high-quality, durable, and reliable solution for managing light exposure and infrared pollution. This filter is designed to meet the needs of professionals who demand precision and versatility in their work.
Crafted with Kenko Tokina's innovative Accu-ND Technology, the Cinema PRO IRND filter delivers unparalleled control over light without compromising color fidelity. The neutral density coating ensures a true-to-life color balance by stabilizing the transmittance of color across the visible spectrum, making it an effective tool for maintaining true color fidelity in your images.
Unlike standard IRND filters that may introduce color shifting and require constant white balancing, the Cinema PRO IRND filter minimizes these issues, allowing you to focus on capturing the perfect shot. Its high-density rating of 2.1 (7 stops) effectively reduces light entry, granting you better control over exposure and depth of field, even in challenging lighting conditions.
The filter's robust construction features an ND vapor deposition coating on both sides of the glass for the round version, ensuring a high-precision, truly neutral filtration experience. For those who prefer a square or rectangular format, the filter's coating is sandwiched between two layers of glass, allowing for re-polishing in the event of scratches, thus extending the filter's lifespan.
Tokina's advanced manufacturing process utilizes suppression rather than cutting to eliminate infrared pollution, controlling infrared light up to 1200nm. This method is less prone to producing unwanted color shifts compared to other filters that cut near-infrared at specific wavelengths.
Choose the 105mm Cinema PRO IRND 2.1 Filter - 7 Stops for its effectiveness in reducing light entry without affecting image quality. Its high rating and reliable performance make it a standout choice for professionals seeking to enhance their visual storytelling without the hassle of post-production color corrections.
