The 105mm Cinema PRO IRND 2.4 Filter is designed to reduce the amount of light entering the camera lens, allowing for a wider aperture and slower shutter speed. It also helps in controlling infrared pollution which can occur when using stronger ND filters on sensitive cameras.
Unlike standard IRND filters that may introduce color shifting, this filter employs Accu-ND Technology to maintain true color neutrality. It also suppresses infrared light up to 1200nm, avoiding the common issue of unwanted color shifts associated with other filters.
The ND vapor deposition coating ensures high precision and a truly neutral light control. In the square/rectangular variant, the coating is sandwiched between two layers of glass, allowing for re-polishing and extending the filter's lifespan.
The large circular size of the filter offers compatibility with a wide range of lenses, enhancing its utility for various shooting scenarios in both cinematography and photography.
The filter's innovative technology and design aim to maintain true color fidelity, reducing the need for extensive post-production color correction.
Review Summary

I purchased this filter after seeing great reviews for it on Youtube, it was consistently rated better than the more expensive filters, it was not until after the purchase that I noted in a couple of reviews that these filters although excellent are somewhat fragile, in one review it was recommended that the filter only be used in studio settings. I am still happy with the purchase, I am a still photographer that uses these filters in landscape photography often in somewhat harsh environments, mountain streams and waterfalls. Because I use this with Canon wide angle lenses I had purchased 105mm filters to go on lenses with 77mm filter threads using a step up ring to avoid vignetting, to solve the fragility problem I purchased somewhat inexpensive 105mm UV filters to protect the ND filters from the elements, I also purchased lens caps because Sigma makes a great lens cap for about $10 that fits the filters perfectly. I use a rear UV filter to further protect when not in use.

For cinematographers and photographers seeking to achieve impeccable visual quality without compromising on color fidelity, the 105mm Cinema PRO IRND 2.4 Filter is an essential tool. This high-quality, professional-grade filter is designed to mitigate the challenges of infrared pollution that can occur when using stronger ND filters on sensitive cameras. Unlike standard IRND filters that may introduce color shifting and require constant white balancing, this filter employs Kenko Tokina's innovative Accu-ND Technology to maintain true color neutrality.
The 105mm Cinema PRO IRND 2.4 Filter offers a substantial 8-stop light reduction, enabling the use of wider apertures and slower shutter speeds even in bright conditions. This versatility makes it an effective choice for capturing smooth motion and achieving shallow depth of field in both cinematography and photography.
Constructed with durability in mind, the round version of the filter features an ND vapor deposition coating on both sides of the glass, ensuring high precision and a truly neutral light control. For those who prioritize longevity, the square/rectangular variant boasts a coating sandwiched between two layers of glass, allowing for re-polishing and extending the filter's lifespan.
This filter stands out in the market with its approach to infrared control. Rather than cutting off near-infrared light at a specific wavelength, it suppresses infrared up to 1200nm, avoiding the common issue of unwanted color shifts associated with other filters. This method of suppression ensures that the transmittance of color remains stable across the visible spectrum, providing professional content creators with confidence in their work.
The 105mm Cinema PRO IRND 2.4 Filter's large circular size adds to its appeal, offering compatibility with a wide range of lenses, thus enhancing its utility for various shooting scenarios. With a high user rating of 4.0 out of 5 stars, this filter is recognized for its reliability and effectiveness, making it a preferred choice for those looking to produce high-caliber visual content without the hassle of post-production color correction.
