STEVE S : How well does this work with the Nikon d3500?  Any gotchas or missing features?  I don’t want to assume operation is the same as d3300/d3400 - I’ve been burned on that assumption before…
KARTHIK M : Will this for birding photography with a Nikon D3400?TERRY B : I also agree with James. This is a great lens for landscapes because it is an ultra wide angle. Bird photography is best with the opposite type of lens (a telephoto).James C : This is a super wide angle zoom. I use it for real estate photography. Do not recommend for wildlife - recommend a long telephoto.Gary S : In my opinion it’s more suited for landscape photography vs birds, etc. I hope that helps.JOHN H : I use this lens - with a Canon 90D - for wide sky astrophotography. I would use a much longer telephoto lens for birding
James C : Will this lens work on my older Nikon D5000?

Great Lens for the price point, even better if you can find a gently used one!!!

I was looking for a lens to do milkyway photography on my D5200 (ie 16mm on a crop sensor camera), and found one used at an awesome price point. Naturally after buying it the weather went south for months after buying it, which pretty much happens after buying any lens. Aug 31 I was finally able to use it under some decent dark skies and I was very impressed with what I got out of the Cygnus Region. The attached photo was a stack of 32 exposures 30s F2.8 Iso3200 no tracking just a tripod. I may even try it on my D750 however I usually put my 14mm F2.8 on that and use this one on my 5200. If you looking for an 11-16 on a budget definitely give this one a look.

Used with the BMPCC6K

Honestly, for what the lens is, excellent lens. I use it for video on the BMPCC6K and it gets a little soft/vignettes on the edges when you are all the way at 11mm. Really have no complaints about it since it's a zoom lens and not prime. Very happy with the color rendition this provides. I'm a fan of the slight flare it provides. I will add that when light shines directly on the lens, it does get softer/washed out unlike other primes that don't do so as much. It is to be expected on this lens for this price point. Not sure how I hadn't gotten it sooner for my wide establisher shots. Not for everything, use it as it is ended to be used.

Great quality, well built lens

Great lens with high quality glass. The lens is well built and feels substantial in your hand (doesn't feel cheap and light). The MF/AF is different than on Canon lenses (the ring at the end of the lens pushes out/pulls in) but works great and is easier to use in low light/dark shooting.

Greatly improved and excellent value for real estate photography

Very happy with the lens. I replaced my older version (AT-X116 Pro DX ) with this one and have been very pleased with less light flare! It?s a workhorse and great value for real estate photography!

Pretty good lens for the price!

I?m still getting use to this lens. It?s better than the 50mm I was using. I was also able to use it in a low light setting and the performance was on point without any issues.

This lens has been exactly as advertised. When I’m shooting real estate or architecture it rarely comes off my camera, and the results have been terrific.

Sharp lens. Beware of lens flare.

Lens is very sharp at f5.6. Lens is great for interior pictures. But man, lens flare. The lens gets lens flare even when the sun isn't in the frame. I had lens flare from sunlight coming through a window not in direct line of sight of the lens. Even with the new coating. I can't wait to use this for astrophotography and the milky way. Just not for any sunlight.

Great Ultra Wide Lens for Cropped Sensor Cameras

I have only had this lens a few weeks. It has very good focus & clarity. The lens gives me an added fun dimension for landscape photography. I hope to use it for astrophotography soon since it sports an f2.8 aperture. There is slight distortion, as would be expected with any ultra wide lens, but very little. I was pleasantly surprised. I gave it 4 stars, instead of 5, because I had a difficult time finding a lens case to fit it. It is very wide when the hood is attached. I spent considerable time researching cases. I highly recommend the Medium Barrel case by F-Stop.

Great ultra-ultra wide lens

Awesome lens for chasing meteors shooting above my deck - most wide angle lens I can get for my Canon 90D. Outstanding for landscape scenes along water.

Great ultra-ultra wide lens

By JOHN H.

Awesome lens for chasing meteors shooting above my deck - most wide angle lens I can get for my Canon 90D. Outstanding for landscape scenes along water.

What sets the Tokina atx-i 11-16mm F2.8 CF apart is its meticulous re-engineering for an enhanced user experience and superior image quality. This lens is a high-quality, versatile, and reliable choice for both photography and videography enthusiasts. Its constant F2.8 aperture ensures consistent brightness throughout the zoom range, delivering exceptional edge-to-edge sharpness and resolution that professionals demand.

Crafted to combat flare and ghosting, this lens maintains excellent contrast and color fidelity, even in challenging lighting conditions. The innovative waterproof top coat adds to its durability, making it easier to clean and maintain, while also protecting the lens from the elements.

Cinematographers will appreciate the wide cinematic feel that this lens provides, with minimized breathing and no edge distortion during panning shots. The overall weight and internal focus design of the lens make it an ideal companion for gimbal work, ensuring smooth and stable footage.

The One-Touch Focus Clutch Mechanism is a testament to the lens's innovative design, allowing for a seamless transition from autofocus (AF) to manual focus (MF) with a simple snap of the focus ring towards the camera body. This feature provides photographers with a tactile manual focus experience, complete with hard stops at either end of the focus range, reminiscent of traditional manual lenses.

The directional rotation of the focus ring is thoughtfully aligned with the proprietary direction of Nikon and Canon lenses, ensuring intuitive operation for users of these camera systems. The Tokina atx-i 11-16mm F2.8 CF boasts a complex optical structure with 13 elements in 11 groups, including two aspherical lenses - one of which is a large aspherical P-MO element - and two all-glass molded Low-Dispersion (SD) elements. This sophisticated design effectively minimizes chromatic and spherical aberrations.

The front element of the lens is engineered to provide super-low distortion and minimal light fall-off, ensuring straight lines and reducing exposure vignetting. This makes it the perfect tool for architectural and landscape photographers, as well as astrophotographers and cinematographers seeking precision and clarity in their wide-angle shots.

With its durable construction and performance, the Tokina atx-i 11-16mm F2.8 CF lens for Nikon F is a high-quality, versatile option for those looking to capture expansive landscapes, intricate cityscapes, and the night sky with unparalleled clarity and detail.
