I use this for mostly interior (real estate) photography. Very pleased with build quality and sharpness, except there is a noticeable fall off of detail on the left side of my images. This is noticeable at all apertures, but a little less at f5.6- 11. Center & right side are excellent. However in the way I use this lens that difference will never be noticed by anyone but me, being a pixel peeper.

The ability to capture the power of an object without distortion.

I have been using this lens on a Nikon D90 for about a month, have shot about 300 images with it. Overall it is a good lens, and fun to use for a guy like me who has been shooting fixed normal and telephoto primes for years. However it has a few issues which would make me hesitant to use it for any serious event. -PROS- The build quality is excellent. The lens does not pump in or out as it zooms, everything is in a tough fixed barrel. The lens is extremely sharp, especially at the wide end. Lens distortion is expected in a lens this wide; regardless, the Tokina seems to have it under reasonable control. Excellent color and contrast rendition and fast focus. The chromatic aberration (purple fringing) is there but not nearly as bad as I thought it would be based on other reviews. On a D90, which has correction algorithms for chromatic aberration, some can be seen along highly contrasting lines, particularly tree branches and leaves against the sky. It is very thin and not noticeable when viewing the image at a normal viewing size. It is worse in the corners of the frame, at wide focal lengths, and with wide apertures. By contrast, Nikon's both otherwise excellent 35mm f/1.8 and 18-55mm kit lens have worse aberration. -CONS- Exposure varies wildly across the zoom range. Shoot a perfectly exposed scene at 12mm, then shoot the same scene with the same exposure settings at 24mm and it is blown out. The inverse is true - a perfectly exposed scene at 24mm will be several stops too dark if you shoot the same scene with the same settings at 12mm. I prefer to shoot in manual exposure mode so this can be irritating, particularly if I need to take a photo in a hurry. This phenomenon is typical to see in zoom lenses of any focal length but is very pronounced in this lens' short range. In about half of my photos taken in the 22-24mm range, the right edge of the frame appears markedly softer than the rest of the image. I don't know why this happens. It does not seem to matter what focus points I choose or where my focal plane lies. Where the zoom ring falls on the lens is prone to being nudged while I hold the lens during shooting. I will probably learn to work around this as I use the lens more. -CONCLUSION- A well-built, sturdy-feeling wide angle lens at a bargain price. Image quality is mostly excellent except for the occasional softness issues I noted, which are a little disappointing. The exposure varying so dramatically along the zoom range means I don't feel comfortable using this lens in an environment where lighting conditions are changing or my subject is moving. I am most comfortable with this lens under more controlled conditions, where I have time to test exposures on subjects that are stationary - not typical of what I shoot. However, I see this being my premier waterfall-shooting lens when the weather improves around here.

This lens adds extra wide angle to my bag of tricks and does it very well. I use it for night photography, day photography, anytime I want extra wide angle capability. I have been extremely happy with its output. It is heavy and not a particularly fast lens, but if you are used to shooting with a tripod as I am, not really a problem. If you need faster you will want to check out the Tokina 11-16mm lens. The comparable Nikkor lens is a lot more expensive and as others have said, not really worth the extra by comparison.

Very useful focal range, sharp, well built. I debated between this lens and the tokina 11-16. I made the right choice. This lens is sharper than the 18-105, and hardly comes off my camera.

Out of the box Tack Sharp corner to corner edge to edge and center tested with Digital focusing Targets. Works Great so far with the D7000 no complaints. Very nice addition to the Kit. Did buy ProOptic 77mm filter kit with the lens and a metal lens cap better than the snapon cap.

The Tokina 12-24 is my work horse with my Nikon D7000. I have had a Tokina 12-24 since they first came out. It is an absolutely great lens.

This lens is ideal for landscape photography. As the focal length is upto 24, this lens can be used for group photos also. This is only of the altime lens

Great lens, not too heavy not too light. I enjoy using it at 12mm to get the wide angle perspective. My only issue with it is that in very low light the auto focus is not very accurate. I use it with my D7000 and with a SB-700 even the infrared light from the SB-700 the auto focus when used at 12mm can be inaccurate if shooting from more than 2 feet away.

While I was satisfied with my Tokina 12-24, I found that I like the 11-18 better, especially since it has a faster wide open f/stop capability.

A terrific lens at this price point! There are many reviews about this lens saying that it's heavy or focuses only on the left/right side. I have had no issues at all with the quality, weight, or output of this lens. Yes, it does have flare when pointed into direct sunlight, but you would only do that to PRODUCE flare, for artsy shots. The weight doesn't bother me at all, coupled to my D90 with battery grip. It provides more heft for stability! All in all, it's a great product, and for well under half the Nikkor's price!

I got this to go with my APS C sensor camera to give me a little better range at the wider end. Because I wasn't sure how much I would use it (I'm fond of my 18-200mm) I didn't really want lay out the bucks for Nikons 12-24mm for a reportedly minor performance improvement. Well, I don't use it much but when I do it performs admirably.

I got this lens to use with my D90 while traveling. It's a sturdy, capable lens at an attractive price. I use it mostly for snapshots of landscapes and cramped interiors. Since I got the 18-200 mm, it's usefulliness to me has diminished.

The lens, compared to the equivalent 12-24 Nikkor, overexposures by about 1/3 stop, and is slightly cooler in color temperature. Two minor quibbles, as the lens is an excellent all-round performer and is a much better value than the Nikon lens.

Nothing negative I can say about this lens. (I've even discovered that part of the zoom range does not vignette on full frame!) It's always in my bag for those unexpected extra-wide needs on location, or when you need that dramatic perspective. The contrast is high, which takes getting used to, but nothing that my Nikon's D-lighting can't handle. Impressive at this price - I have the feeling it will hold its value for a long while, or even appreciate, especially because of its f.f. capability. Make it a 2.8 (at the same weight and size) and I'd be ecstatic. Just dreaming - a constant f4 is still good.

Love this lens. I am a Nikon junkie so I was a little apprehensive about trying a Tokina but after reading reviews and encouragement from other photographer friends I took the leap. What a great lens and the Adorama price is very reasonable too. Love this lens for weddings and events where you really want to show the "whole scene". Highly recommend!

We do a lot of traveling and I wanted a wide angle lens for my Nikon D300 but not at a Nikon lens price. This lens fits the bill well.

Sharp from f4.0 onward. This lens is great for landscapes and groups of people. If you shoot DX, you need a good wideangle lens, and this is one of the best at any price

I read a lot of reviews before I made my choice, and having had the lens for almost a week, and taken round 150 shots, I'm absolutely comfortable with my selection. I am going to get along just fine with this lens :-). Sharp, contrasty, with good color, and a pretty decent price to boot.
