I wish that I could say that I was surprised at the performance of this lens but I would be lying. This lens is in keeping with the tradition started long ago by the men that left Nikon in pursuit of a better lens and they have achieved it time and again. Purchased this copy of the lens for use in real estate photography and definitely not disappointed. The lens is fast focusing, sharp and incredibly quiet. The build quality reminds me of both my Tokina AT-X Pro 50-135mm DX f/2.8 that I bought a few years back for my DX bodies and the very first Tokina I ever owned, the venerable AT-X Pro 28-70mm f/2.6-2.8 Angenieux. I find little fault with the lens even shooting wide open. Great color reproduction and with the exception of the curved front element and the less than stellar built-in hood the lens is perfection. I shoot both interiors as well as exteriors with it and I am actually thinking of taking it out to my beach house in North Top Sail Beach, NC to shoot the beautiful fall and winter sunrises. Would I recommend? Without a doubt.

Works good on my Canon RP. Responsive and fast. Very clear. My only nitpick is the autofocus/manual focus can occasionally get jammed, and it takes a little forceful pressure to unlock it.

This is my second copy of this lens to own. I dropped the first on recently and got my second at a great price just slightly higher than repairing my old copy. I use this lens a ton when shooting architecture and interiors and a few shots during the day at weddings. Lens is very sharp out toward the edges. Focus is fast in good lighting a bit slower if I use it in dark receptions. If your a fan of filters this lens won't be to your liking with the bulb type lens. In conclusion tis is a great lens for the money. If you need a wide zoom this is a good choice!

I used it for the Milky Way and it was excellent. Very sharp throughout and it gathers light extraordinarily good for a 2.8.

Great lens that I can’t wait to shoot more with. So far very pleased with the results. Built well, a bit on the heavy side. They have improved the lens cap also, it slips over the lens and locks much like a normal cap would.

Love this lens, my second one. Every bit as sharp as the first one. No complaints. I use it daily as a Real Estate Photographer.

Excellent lens! I thought it would be difficult to get used to how to change from auto focus to manual focus, but I had no problems. I need to get used to the extra weight since I had been using DX lenses before this.

A quality product without the high quality price. Nice sharp lens.

Great sharp lens even when wide open at an unbeatable price! It's heavy, and works with the latter Nikon Z cameras too as it has it own autofocus motors in lens. Great buy!

First Tokina. Healthy, well made lens, from one of the up and coming companies. Comparable with Sigma.

If you are looking to get into real estate photography/videography and need a good wide-angle but don't want to spend a lot of money, this is a great option. Autofocus is pretty decent, makes a little noise but at this price point this is an awesome lens.

I can travel the world with just this ONE lens @ focal 16-28 mm + my trusty D750. Happy to leave my 24-70 2.8G home. Piece of mind when purchasing from Adorama #1 return policy but with this Tokina 16-28 2.8 at current price of $399, there is not much to be picky about (unless DOA or defective) so it is a keeper for me. Absolutely recommend it as a full frame ultra wide zoom lens + a 5 stars value. Daniel

This lens is great for the price. It has the usual problems you might encounter with a wide angle lens such as distortion and flare and the very edges but this can be addressed in photoshop. The lens produces very sharp photo images and overall I am very pleased with this lens.

There is something special about this lens. Looking back at thousands of pictures, I can tell which ones were taken with this Tokina. The colors and sharpness are unique. The only con is the cap, which tends to fall off, other than that this one is my go to wide lens.

I don't have this lens for a long time, just did 1 job with it so far. I love the price, it is a heavy lens with amazing built quality and very good for low light... which was crucial to my photo shoot. Focus is ok, not slow at all. I am happy with this lens!

Unfortunately, this lens didn’t meet my expectations in terms of it’s quality…. well made, yes….. no bag in the box, however.. disappointing…. worst thing about this lens was the amount of distortion at the low end. I was hoping for something I could use to replace my Nikon 14x24 which is in the shop for who knows how long. I had to return this Tokina lens… in spite of it’s very attractive price, it just won’t do the job.

I had the tokina 12-16 for my crop camera and it was fantastic. This is my upgrade for my full frame. Its a fantastic lens.

The lens is good value for the price point and produces sharp images. However ghosting and flare is a serious issue with this

Picked up this nice little lens as an alternative to the expensive Nikon 14-24. Solidly built lens, hasn't let me down as of yet. The only thing I don't like is to switch between AF and MF you push a ring at the front of the lens. It's too easy to accidentally switch between the two.

I want to take amazing photos. I really do. But I'd rate most of mine mediocre at best. I've been using the same lens that came with a Nikon D50 purchased years ago...so,what if I upgraded to a great, sharp, well-reviewed, well-branded lens? The first time I put this lens on my camera, it just about took my breath. The clarity, the unbelievable wide range, the ease in clicking from manual to auto focus, not to mention the sharpness of the photo from one edge to the other was just terrific. Will it help my ability? I don't know, but with this lens I'm going to vote yes! I vote you try it, too!

This lens is nothing less than amazing. There are always good aftermarket quality lenses out there and The Tokina 16-28 is one of them. Auto focus is amazingly fast and the lens is ridiculously sharp. The build quality is nice and sturdy. Id rather the af be a switch than a push and pull operation but coming it unde($), you really can't beat this for a ultra wide angle zoom lens.

I am glad that I went with Lens by another photographer’s recommendation. I have only tested it a few times, but I am pleased with the results so far. It’s pretty sharp.

Surprised by this lens...
By Momaziggy
This my first off brand lens I've purchased. After reading a lot of reviews I rented it. Within the first day I knew I would buy it! I could not believe how sharp & detailed this lens was. Then the colors were very surprising as well. I've shot L glass & non L glass and wasn't expecting an off brand lens to produce L glass colors! AF is fast & accurate and I am overall, so impressed with this lens. I don't use filters so that isn't an issue for my casual use with this lens. It's my only off...

Everything I hoped it would be

I shoot a lot of real estate interiors/exteriors for other agents. I had been using a 28mm lens but it just wasn't wide enough to suit me. The Nikon 14-24 wasn't within my reach right now so, after doing a lot of homework, I settled on the Tokina and I couldn't be happier. Very sharp end to end and easy to handle. Yes, it's heavy, but so is my Nikon so they balance well. You won't be disappointed.
This Tokina lens is the first in a new generation of full frame (FX) lenses designed for professional digital SLR cameras like the Canon EOS 5D Mark II and the Nikon D700 and D3X. The 16-28 zoom range gives the professional photographer a super-wide angle of view to get close to subject for dramatic effect or to take in entire scenes.
NEW Silent DC Motor with GMR senor
The 16-28 f/2.8 uses a newly developed silent DC motor that allows the lens to focus faster and more quietly then previous generations. The DC motor coupled with a new GMR magnetic AF sensor work together to increase AF Speed.
Aspherical and Super-low Dispersion glass elements
A new, 56mm in diameter, large sizes aspherical glass element is incorporated into the front lens group, while there are 2 more aspherical elements in the rear group. 3 SD super-low dispersion glass elements are also incorporated through-out the optical design to reduce chromatic aberration, give maximum resolution, more even brightness and distortion correction.
One-Touch Focus Clutch
Tokina's exclusive One-touch Focus Clutch Mechanism allows the photographer to switch between AF and MF simply by snapping the focus ring forward for AF and back toward the camera to focus manually. There is no need to change the AF/MF switch on Nikon camera bodies* and there is no second AF/MF switch on the lens for Canon, everything is accomplished by the focus ring.
The lens is designed for digital cameras with full frame (FX= 24mmx36mm) sized CMOS and CCD sensors. It can be used on digital cameras with APS-C (DX) sizes sensors as well.
