Great lens

Great value, great IQ, just too front heavy for my application. Swapped it for an RF 16mm f/2.8.

Worth Every Red Cent!

I have been dreaming about the day I could buy and switch to this Lens. And it did not disappoint. Having been doing Real Estate and Architectuaral Photos for 5 years now on a D5500 and a Crop 10-20mm lens and switching to this and a D750 has been a game changer. My photos come out crisp and full of detail. I can not believe the difference and my clients noticed too.

Recommended for interior real estate photography

I use these on my Nikon Z5s with an FTZ adapter, and Nikon DSLRs as well. The quality can't be beat for the price, with results comparable to the Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8, but at only a fraction of the cost. This has been my goto lens for interior real estate photography for many years, and this newer Opera line from Tokina doesn't disappoint. However, I wouldn't recommend this lens for anything outside as it, as well as the OEM lenses it competes with, has a bulbous front element, making it very prone to flair. Focus is fast, even when using the FTZ adapter on Nikon Z bodies. Built like a tank, heavy, but stays on a tripod for photographing real estate interiors.

Incredible with D850

Super sharp with my D850, but oddly very soft on my D750 (to the point where it's almost unusable). I also threw it on my D500 out of curiosity and it's very soft with that also.

Tokina 16-28

Love it right out of the box. Great clarity. I have always been impressed with the TOKINA PRODUCT. The price is very good and the picture quality is amazing. The picture I added is just off my back porch due to the pandemic and Michigan is very high in cases.

Tokina Opera 16-28mm F/2.8, Excellent

Good lens for the price; sharp and fast. Adorama always offers the best deals. Wish it started wider even with shorter range, say 14-18mm F/2.8.

Tokina Opera 16-28mm F/2.8 FX Zoom Lens for Canon EF

Overall great lens except for the flare as is common for Tokina wide angle lens. If you can deal with that is a great lens and it takes sharp images.

WIth flaws while worth the price

A lot of glare in the night. Heavy in weight. Though those are all minor issues considering the price tag.

Tokina is a contender and can stand toe-to-toe with the OEMs! Adorama is excellent!

Tokina makes incredible lenses. Adorama provides EXCELLENT customer service. That about sums it up! This is my second 16-28 from Tokina. This is the newest version for my Canon mount. I own many Canon L lenses but this one is sharp enough and responsive enough to keep me using Tokina in this focal range. The only issue (and its not a deal breaker) is that there is no way to attach a filter, specifically a CP or ND filter which I like to use in this range. However, there is a work-a-round but you sacrifice with some vignetting. Overall, excellent build quality. Excellent optical quality. Sharpness and color rendition is excellent. I would definitely recommend this lens to any of my friends and colleagues looking for a great ultra-wide lens.

Bought this lens as an upgrade for real estate videography. Cheaper options couldn't perform like I wanted, but this has been awesome.

Opera is a great buy

I was reluctant to purchase the Tokina Opera, wanted to hold out for the Tamron 15-30mm G2, but when it went on sale for half the price of the Tamron I went for it. I could not be happier with the purchase. The glass is sharp. The images are great. The lens is quick to focus. If I had to find one complaint it would have to be lack of vibration control (hasn’t been an issue yet) and it is my loudest focusing lens (but that really doesn’t bother me). Great buy.

good lens at low cost

I've been testing it for a few days with a Nikon D810. The first thing that is noticeable is the weight, which for the photography I take is good for architecture but a bit heavy for sports. The almost absence of barrel effect and its sharpness even in 2.8 impressed me. Very good lens for such a low cost.

good product

I have been testing the characteristics of this lens for 3 days with a Nikon D810. When I received it and took it out of the box I noticed that it was heavy, something characteristic of quality lenses. When testing it in indoor photography in f16 I noticed the almost absence of barrel effect, which makes it easier for me to edit my photos. Great sharpness and focus even at 2.8. So far I like this lens especially for the price, which went down for the holidays at 100 dollars, A great lens at a very low price

flares from every source of light

I bought this lens since I owned Tokina 28-70 2.8 which was sharper than my Nikon 24-70 but with a lot of flares and ghosting. This lens is no exception, it's sharp but the flares and ghosting seams to be part of every source of light. The AF is OK,

Tokina Opera 16-28mm F/2.8 FX Zoom Lens for Canon EOS DSLR & Nikon DSLR Cameras

Award-winning Japanese brand Tokina offers a new line of full-frame camera lenses for high-end DSLR cameras. The Tokina Opera 16-28mm F/2.8 FX Zoom Lens is built on a slim housing and utilizes a new DC motor and GMR magnetic AF sensor for quick but quiet autofocusing, while the built-in hood petals provide additional protection to the front element of the lens. The photographer can easily switch between MF and AF mode using Tokina's exclusive One-Touch Focus Clutch Mechanism. The new 56mm-diameter aspherical front element contributes to low distortion and low light falloff, while the SD super-low dispersion glass elements incorporated throughout the optical design minimize chromatic aberration and give maximum resolution, more even brightness, and distortion correction. The Tokina Opera is built for professional photographers, allowing them to rely on a single lens for full wide angle coverage. The Tokina Opera 16-28mm is available for both Canon EOS and Nikon DSLR cameras, making it a versatile and reliable lens.

Tokina opera represents a series of next generation, premium full-frame lenses for high-end DSLR cameras. The new series perfectly matches recent high-resolution full-frame DSLR cameras that demand the highest quality optical designs. Built on the award winning heritage of Tokina's AT-X line, the new opera series will offer an ever-expanding, premium line of full-frame lenses that meet the growing demands of high-performance DSLR cameras.
Opera 16-28mm F2.8 FF is a super wide zoom lens featuring super wide angle at 16mm and traditional wide angle at 28mm that stands at the border where the standard zoom angle range begins, thus providing the photographer practically full wide angle coverage with only one lens.

Tokina Opera

In modern society the word "opera" is commonly used to indicate stage art works that combine drama, music and dance. In Italian, it means work or work of art. As an omitted art genre definition, opera comes from "opera musicale", which means a piece of music work. In Latin, opera comes from "opus" that is still used in contemporary language meaning "great literary, artistic or intellectual work" (e.g. "magnum opus", "opera magna"). We chose the name opera for our new premium full-frame DSLR lens series with the idea that it will help the photographer in creating real "works of art".

Super wide angle, superior resolving ability coupled with high contrast and beautiful bokeh rendering, fast f/2.8 constant aperture throughout the zoom range and accurate AF drive system make this lens attractive for photographers who specialize in landscape, interior architecture, street snap, documentary, environmental style portrait and night sky/time lapse photography genres.

Overview
tokina

The "bulb-like" shape front element cannot allow to attach photographic filter, but greatly contributes to low distortion and low light falloff. Superior color rendering will allow the photographer to capture the nature scenery in rich blue colors without using C-PL filter, and the in-built hood petals will serve as a protection from accidental damage of the front element.

Ergonomics and exterior design

The new Tokina opera 16-28mm F2.8 FF has been designed to provide the photographer comfort and confidence during the shooting. The lens comes in a sophisticated, gorgeous but yet simple and slim housing with well balanced zoom and focus ring arrangement. opera 16-28mm F2.8 FF is designed to fit top class DSLR cameras and by no means meant to be light-weight and compact. It is the lens that, once hold in hand, makes the photographer realize himself involved into the shooting process and is suggested for those who are serious about photography.
