This is a great 500mm telephoto for the price. I work's very well with my Nikon Z30.

What I like most: 1. price affordability 2. size and weight make this lens portability for long hiking and nature photography 3. constraint forces me to be creative Weaknesses 1. focus is acceptable not tack sharp 2. hard to focus in backlighting 3. manual focus is acceptable and Sony A7 manual assist works but Sony A7Rii's manual focus magnification does not work I recommend this lens when you want to explore abstract landscape and backyard bird photography when most are not flying.

When I heard about Tokina SZ 500mm, I was reluctant but decided to give it a try since it meets my priorities: size, weight and price. For last 5 days, I have tried the Tokina SZ 500mm for seascape, people, and pets. The results exceed my expectation despite some of the lens' weaknesses. What I like most about the lens: * size and weight make this lens haulable for long hiking * price is affordable * Versatile super lens in abstract landscape, for instance to shoot mountain top of glaciers or rice/wheat fields from a distance point of view; backyard songbird photography (not in-flight) and flower photography What I do not like * Hard to focus on remote object in strong lighting condition (backlighting). Focus ring is not accurate * Mirror is susceptible to humid condensation * Cleaning mirror can create streaks of dirty residues
