The Portege R835-P56X 13.3" Notebook Computer from Toshiba is a thin and light portable computer, perfect for daily use - it can operate for up to 9 hours on battery power. The system is only smidge over an inch thin when closed and weighs a paltry 3.2 pounds. Unlike other systems in this weight class which eschew an optical drive to shed a few ounces, the Portege features a built-in SuperMulti DVD burner for your all of your DVD and CD needs.

The system is a great option for all-day computing. It can operate for up to 8 hours between battery charges, allowing you to work away from a power outlet for extended periods of time. Input is handled by a spill-resistant chiclet keyboard and a multi-touch touchpad. A memory card reader is present for photo import.

The Portege supports Intel's Wireless Display technology, which allows you to connect to an HDTV wirelessly. You'll need the optional Netgear Push2TV accessory to utilize this technology. For wired connectivity to an HDTV, the notebook features an HDMI output.

The computer is powered by a dual-core 2.3GHz Intel Core i5-2410M CPU, which can be overclocked to 2.9GHz using Intel Turbo Boost. It is loaded with 4GB of RAM, a 640GB 5400rpm hard drive, a SuperMulti DVD burner, 802.11n Wi-Fi, USB 3.0, USB 2.0 and eSATA. Its 13.3" display is powered by an integrated Intel GMA HD GPU and features a LED backlight, 16:9 aspect ratio and support for 720p HD video. Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) is the installed operating system.
