Questions & Answers

Yaakov G : What do the colors mean (red, black, gray) ... are they just affectations (I like black equipment), or do they mean something about the equipment?DIEGO L : I think this model only has two colors. ...only the rubber rings and foot grips are affected check the jobyball webpageCARL F : I use this equipment in a forensic taphonomy (recovery of partial or completely covered remains; i.e. mass grave sites or multiple sites for a serial killer) section of an advanced murder investigation class for graduate students at a state university. The only thing the color difference is good for -- other than make them fit a color scheme someone - is to help you sort the 'pods. For instance, we might use three pods on one body recovery session, so at the end of a 4 hour laboratory (outdoor) recovery skills exam I want to make it easy to account for the equipment used by the student. If I have all the colors then I have all the right equipment. On a personal note, I bought this particular model (red) because I like the color and wanted it for my home kit.RYAN F : The color selection is the color of the balls on the bottom of the feet of the tripod. There is also a thin red ring at the swivel. Otherwise, the rest of the rubberized parts are gray, with the hard plastic components black.ELIZABETH P : I don't remember what color my were but I think light grey. In my opinion I think that the color is just affection.DARIUS W : Mine does have the red feet as well and I may be wrong but I believe it is just for decor. The tripod and the head are quite serviceable and for this light weight a tripod it is respectably solid. My camera is a Nikon 7000 with a zoom of 18 to 200. It does OK with that. I don't recommend much heavier than that. I wish the head was made so it could pan. I would not get the gorilla pod without a head. The bubble or level device on the quick release plate is a nice touch.MOHAMMAD HADI H : They are just for aesthetics, nothing more (unless I'm not getting it!).MICHAEL C : It's decorative. Other models in the Gorillapod series have as many as six color choices.DAVID S : As far as I can tell, the colors don't mean anything specific, unless it has to do with weight limit but I have not seen anything that would indicate that. The Joby Ball Head + Gorilla SLR tripod I bought has been a rock solid tool for shooting. Surprisingly sturdy for a Gorillapod. The head works nicely, smooth movement with solid locking on pan and quick release head. We've set this on walls, benches, wrapped it around railings and it works great.FLOYD M : There is no apparent significance just cosmetic. It is a very useful piece of equipment in spite of the colors.
