Questions & Answers

Courtney T : Does this require a separate modem?RAJA M : Yes, Cable modem or DSL modem is required...RAJIV S : Yes, you'll need a separate modem. This is just a routerCHIH YUAN L : Yes, this is just a wireless router.R. R : Yes.NEAL V : Yes you will need a modem if you want to access the internet. Your internet service provider can lease one to you or they can recommend which brands and models you can purchase that is compatible with their service.Michele A : This is just a wireless router. You will certainly need to have a modem (DSL or Cable). Personally, I think this is better than all-in-one modem/router.JARED A : Yes.DUENJENG W : You will need a dsl modem if you are using DSL service or cable modem for cable broadband service. Check with your ISP.ANDREW R : This unit does not have a modem built in. You will need a separate modem if using this connect to your local internet provider (DSL, Cable, etc.)
Shopper : Can this setup guest network/networks?GREGORY S : YesT E : It doesn't officially do this, but the two bands each function as separate routers and there's a firmware setting so that the two routers can't see each other. You could assign one band to the "guest," assuming (1) the guest device(s) has(ve) the correct band antenna (the 5 GHz band is newer and less prevalent) and (2) you don't need the band associated with the guest. Routers are so cheap these days that you could also just get another mini router and plug that into a free port on this one. I bought this router last week because of the Gigabit Ethernet connections and the three-antenna setup, which gives stronger coverage in my home compared to the Actiontec router that came with my FIOS service.ANDREW R : Unfortunately no, this unit does not appear offer guest networks.

About TP-Link N750

The TP-Link N750 is a performance optimized simultaneous dual band wireless router combining the blazing fast speeds of 450 Mbps using the crystal clear 5 GHz band and 300 Mbps using the traditional 2.4 GHz band. With simultaneous dual band, users have 750 Mbps of total bandwidth to power numerous bandwidth intensive applications at the same time around a large home or office setting, where simple tasks such as e-mail or web browsing can be handled by the 2.4 GHz band at 300 Mbps and more latency sensitive tasks such as online gaming or HD video streaming can be processed over the 5 GHz band at 450 Mbps, at the same time. With five Gigabit ports and 800 Mbps+ hardware NAT, your wired devices will have lightning-fast, lag-free connections and in addition to 2 USB 2.0 ports capable of sharing flash storage, printers, ftp servers and media players, users can power a robust home media network.

The TL-WDR4300 broadcasts and receives both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz connections simultaneously at 300 Mbps and 450 Mbps respective speeds. Like two wireless routers in one, this allows users to run day-to-day applications, such as e-mail and web browsing over the 2.4 GHz band at 300 Mbps while using bandwidth intensive or latency sensitive applications, such as streaming HD video or playing online games, over the clearer 5 GHz band at 450 Mbps, at the same time.

Using the TL-WDR4300's two multi-functional USB 2.0 ports, users can share printers, files and media either throughout the network at home with several different computers or even away, using the device's ftp server functions so that you never have to part with your files.

With one Gigabit WAN port and four Gigabit LAN ports, the TL-WDR4300 is able to support a robust and extremely fast wired network, ideal for latency-sensitive applications such as HD media and online gaming. With built-in gigabit Ethernet switch and a Hardware NAT function, the wireless router provides powerful data processing capabilities. Its NAT WAN to LAN throughput can achieve up to 800 Mbps+ allowing users to unleash the full potential of their networks. TL-WDR4300 supports IP QoS (Quality of Service), allowing optimum utilization of bandwidth and offering bandwidth control over congestion, preventing bandwidth abuse. In this way, users of a small network receive committed and specific bandwidth, preventing non-critical applications from degrading network performance.

Compatible with Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS), TL-WDR4300 features Quick Security Setup that allows users to almost instantly setup their security simply by pressing the WPS button on the router and automatically establishing a WPA2 secure connection, which is more secure when compared with WEP encryptions. The device comes with a CD featuring an Easy Setup Assistant that leads users through the setup process step by step and even helps with wireless network settings and security configurations. With setups this easy, even novice users can have their networks up and running in mere minutes.
