Doesn't work as per instruction manual. My laptop was 5 feet away from this and the connection keeps dropping. It's ok for web surfing but horrible for streaming video.

I own a TL-WR700N before, the setup is not the same on this new one. Both are exactly the same model, compared both labels on the unit. I like to be able to set up the unit by connecting to PC right after a RESET. The new unit has to do the setup thru wifi and connect the TL-WR700N to router. The new unit has V1_140415 firmware, my older unit has V1_130416 firmware. Flashed the new unit with V1_130416 firmware, now both operate the same. Something is not correct on the V1_140415 firmware downloaded from TP-Link site, got an error when flashing the firmware on both units that I have. But V1_130416 and V1_140311 were both okay. V1_140311, operated the same as V1_140415. I finally re-flashed to V1_130416, I like to do setup by connecting PC and TL-WR700N thru ethernet cable after RESET.

This is a higly functional little router. Very compact with built-in universal power supply 100-240v 50/60hz. It is so easy to plug in in a hotel room or conference room and go wireless with all my devices. It has an amazing array of features for such a low price.

These are great for travelers. Every family should have 1 or 2 of these if you travel. Especially great for hotel rooms that charge extra for wireless, but give wired Internet free. No setup needed at all, unless you want to enable security. For an unsecured connection, just plug it in and connect from your phone, laptops, etc. Mine came with only Chinese language materials, but this one probably comes with English, though it doesn't specifically state.

The TP-Link TL-WR700N 150Mbps Wireless-N Mini Pocket Router is an excellent way to spread wireless Internet access to your nearby computers and devices. The TL-WR700N fits into a nearby power socket and features a built-in Fast Ethernet port for connecting it to your modem. Thereafter, it can transmit Wi-Fi signals to your nearby compatible computers, smartphones, tablets and more. This router supports the 802.11N Wi-Fi standard, is widely compatible with 2.4GHz Wi-Fi devices and can transmit data at a maximum speed of 150Mbps. It also is backwards compatible with devices that support the 802.11b/g Wi-Fi standards.
Beyond just functioning as your wireless router, the TL-WR700N can also operate in Access Point, Bridge, Client and Repeater modes to give you more options, depending on what you need. In addition, this router supports various encryption standards including WEP, WPA/WPA2, WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK. With its foldable plug, it can easily be stored in a bag and travel with you wherever you go.
